Salon Backstage — Local services in Tucson

We moved to Tucson about 3 years ago and I used Yelp to find a hair salon for my wife, particularly one where reviewers mentioned how the stylists handle colors in the red and purple family. I found Salon Backstage on Yelp, and my wife's been coming here since then, almost 3 years, and it is just now dawning on me that, of all people, I never posted my OWN review.

Just look at the business profile picture. That's Steve, the owner/proprietor, and he's terrific. It's not just his gregarious personality, but the way he runs his business and his own excellent skills as a stylist. He really does absolutely nail the red colors. And he's just a lot of fun to be around. It's a very enjoyable experience because the salon is comfortable, I can sit on the couch and use my tablet while my wife gets her hair done.

And it's not just the color that he gets right so consistently well, but also the cut. I really like the short style my wife has and Steve does a great job all around - the top looks great, the back is nice and clean, sides are awesome, too. You can, of course, purchase hair related products at the salon, but also other items (jewelry, for example). And I like the cool art, the posters and photos on the call.

But the important part is the hair cutting and coloring and as I said, Steve does a consistently great job on both. We drive about 45 minutes to come here. Once you find a stylist you like, you stick with them. It's totally worth the drive. The hair treatment is great, Steve is fun, and the salon is comfortable to...

Terrible place! Two different hair stylists attempted to do a balayage style to my hair and failed because they had no idea what they were doing even though they said that they did. The first girl attempted twice in one day and then I still had to come back another day because I was unhappy with the result. The second girl still did not know how to do it. My comment is this...if you don’t know how to do a certain style don’t pretend to just to get a customers...

Sande Waddell is the best colorist and stylist in all of Tucson! The Backstage Salon is cool, hip, stylish not to mention clean. All the stylist are great at their jobs, fun, funny and welcoming.
