Make sure you look at your meat. I bought a chuck roast. I don't think it's a traditional "chuck roast" I'm not a butcher. But 9 hours in the slow cooker it should be fall apart. Temped at 209. I shouldn't need a knife. They've lost my business forever now. I won't go by anything from them ever again. Watch what you're buying check your receipts. It's disappointing. Save your money drive a little further go to Antioch go to Burlington go to Piggly wiggly in Lake Geneva The Piggly wiggly in Lake Geneva seems to be the best bet for anybody in this area. Again just my opinion. All will have better quality! I only gave him two stars so maybe somebody would read it. They don't deserve it. Their employees look like their people that absolutely need jobs. None of them seem like they're halfway okay with going to work. Seems like a sad state of affairs. I like to shop local and support local things. It's hard to support this place. After a little research it might be a "chuck roast"but a butcher or store that wants to mislead you could call it a chuck roast But you don't get what you've had in the past. It could be Another cut from the chuck primal: The chuck primal is a large section of the shoulder, and it contains various sub-cuts that have different levels of tenderness and fat content. They might try to pass off a less desirable or tougher part of the chuck, like a shoulder clod or a blade roast without clearly labeling it or explaining the difference. These might require longer cooking times or different preparation methods than what you might expect from a typical chuck roast.. It is way tough stringy dry undesirable. I could be completely inaccurate in my statement but I believe this is what happened. I didn't feel right about buying it, but I trusted in my local grocery store. I will now stick with my gut! I served this to my family and I was...

Update 9-4-2021: raspberries were on sale. I took a pass. There was mold in almost every container. Even though the store was recently remodeled, the quality is still not there.
The fried chicken’s okay if you get it at peak meal times. Otherwise is sits for hours drying out.
The one positive thing I saw today was Aidan (sp), a Berkot’s employee, call a customer back to return money that was overpaid. Great job.
This store in Twin Lakes is outdated and old. Taken over earlier this year by Berkot’s. It needs a lift and better management. I have seen and reported mold on bagels in the refrigerated area. Expired dairy products. There are employees handling groceries, shelving groceries, packing groceries and corralling carts that wear half masks. Over the mouth, leaving the nose uncovered. They need to be educated as to safety procedures during a pandemic. The produce is subpar and goes bad quickly. Berries on sale nowhere to be found until the evening before the sale ends. They no longer give rain checks. Customers are required to sign for groceries with instruments shared by previous customers, or they ask you to use your finger to sign for groceries, without cleaning the credit card machine. This depends on which checkout line you use. Most customers do not wear masks. The outside of the store has used masks and gloves that have been tossed and settled along the storefront curb. They do not sanitize carts. It is up to the customer to wipe down carts before use. Wipes are available. Prices are high and grocery selection is mediocre. Meat is old. I’m taking my business elsewhere from now on. To a store that cares about its customers. Shame on...
Read moreAt this very starting point I don't think people are giving this store enough credit. They practically opened their doors when our country was going into panic. Being a small store like that they probably are not staffed the way stores need to be staffed at the moment. As some of us are feeling frustrated and lost and confused ourselves you can't expect these cashier's and other employees to be absolutely chipper themselves. I myself did have a good experience. I went early Monday March 16th as soon as they were opening since supplies everywhere was low I was trying to actually be able to get my groceries. I had a medium size list of stuff to get since their sale ad was amazing lots of things for great prices such as meat and vegetables. All vegetables I was looking for were available and they were probably the only store in the area with bottled water. I had a few meat items on my list upon arriving to the meat section things were a little low but amazingly enough a nice guy working in the meat department had no problem asking me what I was looking for and fetching the things from the back for me. I did get everything I needed and the meat was freshly packaged (a plus) I got to the checkout and my debit card was not working due to the system being overloaded the cashier tried and tried and tried not ever getting mad or frustrated I did have to go to service desk to finish my transaction where the lady was able to get my card to work she was nice and advising not to panic which i wasn't but it shows she was caring for others feelings and we'll being. I was an Aldi shopper but find myself now getting my whole list of groceries at berkots at the same cost. Give them a chance they are new and things are...
