This cinema scores above the minimum because the salons arenāt bad, with good sound and generally well maintained. Sadly, though, management here has adopted the attitude of ātake it or leave itā. This is the only movie house in Ukiah, so the would-be filmgoer can accept the shoddy service or just not go to the movies. First of all, they have closed the box office in favor of selling tickets from the concession counter. That means patrons have to queue up behind folks ordering popcorn and candy and drinks in addition to admission. On multiple occasions Iāve arrived well before movie time yet after waiting for people to decide what snacks to buy, gotten into the movie after the trailers have finished and the film is already running. Most recently my family and I arrived to a matinee only to find the doors still locked ten minutes after the posted start of the film because they were fixing a soda machine. The solution is simple: reopen the box office for ticket sales or set up a means of retrieving tickets purchased online without having to line up at the snack bar to pick up something already paid for. The other recurrent annoyance weāve found is the failure to dim the house lights after the film has started. Yesterday the house lights remained bright throughout the film despite multiple patrons asking staff to lower them. This might be acceptable at a second-run house where films are offered at a steep discount, but this is a first-run theater with new films at full price. One would hope the Regal corporation would object to the management of one of its cinemas treating customers as if they didnāt care if they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love most theaters because I love going to the movies. Ukiah theater needs some attention, they need new seats! I would love to see some luxury seating in theater, Iāll drive to Windsor or the Roxy to watch some movies because of the terrible seating. The other issue is their hot dogs, most times I have ordered the buns dried out or even hard on one end, like people donāt bother closing up the bag, or maybe they just keep them around too long. The last time I got one the meat was all shriveled up like it had been way over cooked. I remember getting hot dogs here in my teenage years when the steamed them and the buns, the bun would come out of one side of the steamer and it was nice and warm, then the juicy hot dog was put in and all places in a foil bag. They would even make them right before the next show so they were in another compartment already bagged up but still being kept warm, so you could quickly grab a dog or two before the movie. Now a days half the time you have to wait 20 minutes for them to cook you one, then leave the movie (and I hate to do this!!!) to go get it, and itās never ready you still have to wait for them to assemble it while your movie continues on without you. Then you finally have it and your back in you lopsided seat and the bun is almost crunchy! They need someone to train on hot dog preparing, maybe they could bring back the hot dog steamer, I bet if you kept your buns fresh and everything was warm steamed and soft as meant to be, you hot dog sales would more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a disappointing visit. On my day off I decided to check out the matinee of Jaws in 3D. I checked the website to confirm the showtime and drove to the theater. When I arrived, 15 minutes prior to the show, there was absolutely nobody at the concession stand. I figured the employee was probably in the back and would be right out. After 5 minutes, no dice. I then called out hello, but there was no answer. I then took a video of the empty lobby, wondering not only how poor the service was but what a security threat it would be for an area like this to be unattended for so long. I waited five more minutes and finally an employee came out. I asked to purchase a ticket and was told that an air conditioner had gone bad and that the movie I wanted to see was unavailable. No update on the website that would have saved me a trip. And I had to wait 10+ minutes just to get the bad news. The manager (Olivia) showed up to confirm the bad news and that was about it. Now, I understand that unexpected things happen. But there is no excuse in the modern age not to give people information when something goes wrong to avoid inconveniencing them. And then, to add insult to injury, having your customers standing around in the lobby with absolutely no contact whatsoever for almost 15 minutes. If this is the future of Regal Cinemas, I feel very bad for the future of...
