Excellent establishment with superior service. I called in to ask if they carried a particular brand of food, and while they did not have it, Sam bent over backwards to find me similar quality products in store. She took it upon herself to find out what exactly I was looking for in terms of quality, what my pet likes/dislikes, allergies, textures.... without ever being asked to. Her service over the phone was so shockingly helpful and kind, that I didn't bother calling any other stores; I just headed over to see what PetPeople was about.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by other very friendly employees who all volunteered to help find exactly what I needed. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable about nutrition, ingredients, and the store's stock. There was not a single question they couldn't answer. Sam again took me all over the store, explaining each food that most met my needs, talked about how their cat trees are handmade from within the company, as well as their loyalty/return programs (spoiler alert: they're free and worth signing up for).
I am very, very pleased with the smorgasbord of food I went home with, and will be going out of my way to return to this store. While the company I was previously going to was certainly not bad, Sam and the other associates at PetPeople truly made me (and my cat) feel taken care...
Read moreWent looking for one brand of food for our puppy (Hill's Science Diet, that his breeder heavily, heavily recommended, exclusively), and wound up being so impressed by the employee's (Ana) discussion with us about recalls between the different brands, and that Fromm (which we feed to our adult dog) doesn't contain corn in its top five ingredients, and that Fromm has never had any Recalls on their products, that we were reassured about feeding the baby Fromm against the breeder's recommendation, and thus getting the baby and our adult on the same brand (but different formulations), which saved us a lot of money.
Then, a bit later we were deliberating between enzymatic cat spray cleaners, and she not only helped explain pros and cons of each, but told us what one customer preferred as the 'holy grail', versus around the corner in another aisle where another enzymatic cleaner was that she herself found really helpful.
And to top it all off, the employee name tags included pronouns! It was neat, seeing "sje/her" on an employee's badge, and really also then showed furthermore that the store and employees...
Read moreThey are great, they care about animals and animal welfare. If you have a dog or cat, I cannot recommend PetPeople enough.
What I would love to see most is a larger selection of items for birds, small animals, fish, and reptiles. I would say that these types of animals, more than any, need people who are knowledgeable like the ones here. The places most people go to buy these little guys know little about their care. Terrible products are mixed with the decent stuff. People just don't know how much care they need, so animals get sick, they get behavioral issues, they get put in rescue. Owners need someone to talk to about their pets, so they can start on the right foot. PetPeople would be a great place to do this.
Not sure how they could start a customer base as people tend to flock to where they first bought their pets, but the little critters really do need more people who...
