If I could give MSI zero stars I would! Never again will I enter our team in anything related to MSI! Our schedule changed all week multiple times, they scheduled us to play 10am and 2pm on a Friday like people don’t work! After our first game we are told no second game because of a forfeit. We reached out to director Chris and he was just absolutely nasty, didn’t give a crap about our questions or requests, and reminded me their a nationally recognized organization… let me tell you this is only because enough people haven’t realized the huge scam this guy and the rest of the organization is running! Our team made it to the championship and guess what everything gets canceled! They can’t control the rain but they can for sure control their communication with teams. We are a little over an hour away with traffic scheduled to play at 6:25 and at 5:40 we get notified that 4pm games are in delay, that’s it no update on what will happen with our game! So at 6:30 they begin playing the 4pm games, they change our game to 8:15! Little after we get canceled! $1200 to play two 1hr 45 min games! They play on different venues that are located on college campuses which do not belong to MSI and are also more than 35 min more of travel from MSI complex . MSI complex in Aston only has 2 60/90 fields and it’s horrible. You pay $10 a person to enter, the place to sit is a joke, you would think with paying this amount of money for a tournament they would at least put a net to protect all the fans from foul balls…nope you have to have eyes behind your head all game plus your sitting side by side to the opposing team fans which you will probably talk to by asking them the score because this place doesn’t even have scoreboards🤦🏻‍♀️ Such a waste of money and time and such a horrible experience!...
Read moreReview of outdoor baseball facility and baseball tournaments. Do yourself - and your team - a favor, and do not play in the MSI tournaments. They are very poorly managed. We have played in several tournaments with several different teams. Each time, we hope the experience will be better, but it continues to disappoint. The fields are beautiful and it is a shame that this group cannot get their act together. The umpires are late to games (including the first game of the day) and they do not know the rules of the tournament. I tried to speak with management about it but the man I spoke with would not listen. Instead, he became belligerent and argumentative telling me he thinks they do a good job. How can you expect to do "a good job" if you are not willing to listen to your paying customers? He had an extremely arrogant attitude and did not care to listen to constructive criticism. Again the facility itself is very nice although they could use a bathroom or port-a-potty closer to the fields. The snack stand has a good amount of choices but it is not managed well at all. The kids that work there are not trained well - I do not blame the kids as they are just that... kids. They quite often are not prepared and the stand seems to be poorly stocked. They even ran out of bottles of water during a tournament (mid-way through the day), and made no attempt to purchase more water from a local store. As much as we love the turf fields, our team will not be competing in any more MSI...
Read moreWe had the exact same experience as David Singer (below). Rain on Friday evening postponed 3 games, but that wound up having a domino effect on the entire tournament because there was no margin for error in scheduling. Two-hour games were shorted to a 1:40 hard stop - even reverting to the prior inning's score - so some games were only 4 innings! Umpires were advised to "keep the games moving", so strike zones extended well into the opposite batter's box. Numerous bad calls (always "out"), again to "speed up the games" - but integrity of the game was lost. Sunday games scheduled for 8 AM and 10 AM were pushed to 11 AM then pushed again to 12 noon and then cancelled at 11:45 AM...on a beautiful sunny 85 degree day...all because someone left the sprinklers on too long at the off site field at Neuman University. Zero communication to players and fans - no text or email alerts/updates that are commonplace for virtually all professionally run tournaments. The fields are very nice, but the facility is very poorly managed. They seem to have one very obvious goal: Squeeze as many teams in as possible in to maximize revenue with no regard to the baseball experience. My recommendation is - unless there is a management change - spend your tournament...
