The Linc’s dedicated show unit is fully renovated and does not reflect the condition of the actual apartment units. Upon moving in, nothing had been cleaned—cabinets, drawers, and the refrigerator were stained and contained leftover items from previous tenants, including trash and recyclables. WiFi requires a separate router, which was not disclosed prior to move-in. Ceiling lights contained insects, shower tiles were lined with grime, and the toilet was stained and sticky. While the leasing office, gym, and pool areas are clean and modern, the apartments themselves are outdated and do not match the polished image presented. In hindsight, I would not have signed a lease here.

#scammy lease. 😈 They charge 12 installments at $560 plus a security deposit but you can only stay for 11 months lol. So it’s over $600 per month. So if you move in August 21st they charge 2 installments ($1120) plus $560 security deposit in your first 10 days. Instead of a prorated amount for the actual time you’re there. Common marketing scheme to make you believe you are paying lower rent when really are paying an extra full month that you can’t be there. Review your lease & do the math.

I have decided not to renew my lease due to several disappointing experiences with management and roommate arrangements.

From the start, management has been neglectful and unhelpful when it comes to addressing roommate issues. I participated in a roommate mediation at the beginning of the year, but no resolution was ever reached. Since then, I have been stuck living with a roommate who refuses to clean up the kitchen, creating a consistently unpleasant living environment.

I informed management about how living in this situation was draining my mental health, yet they told me there was nothing they could do about it. This lack of concern for tenant well-being was incredibly disheartening. Living in such a negative environment has completely changed my outlook on this area. It has impacted me so deeply that I’ve decided to change my entire academic path and will be relocating to Texas, as I no longer wish to remain in Champaign.

Additionally, after an earlier roommate switch, I was paired with someone who has no pet accommodations, despite clearly stating on my application that I would have a pet. I have been living here longer than my current roommate, yet my needs were overlooked.

On top of these issues, management has offered incentives in exchange for positive reviews, despite being unhelpful and neglecting tenant concerns. This feels misleading and does not reflect the reality of living here.

Overall, the lack of support and poor management have made my experience frustrating, and I would not recommend this property to others.

Edit: Since I was living here first, I feel that I should not have to change my living habits to accommodate someone else, especially when my needs were clearly stated from the beginning. It is unfair that I am made to feel like a maid in my own apartment, constantly cleaning up after a roommate who refuses to take responsibility for their messes. I should not have to bear the burden of maintaining a clean and livable space alone, especially when the roommate’s response to being asked to clean up is simply, “Don’t tell me what to do.” This complete disregard for shared living responsibilities has made my living situation unbearable.

Update February 12, 2025: After posting my honest review, the leasing office called me and threatened me, accusing me of slandering their office. During the call, they claimed that I was being aggressive, even though I was simply standing by my experiences and concerns. They also insisted that my experience of being offered an incentive in exchange for leaving a positive review was not true, despite me personally encountering it. The representative went as far as to say that they would place a leasing violation on me, seemingly as a way to intimidate me into removing my review. This unprofessional and hostile response only reinforced my negative experience with the...

Overall it's, well, not all terrible. But some employees( I changed this since the manager and some other employees are nice) in the front desk is terribly irresponsible, check the package without any care and always ask me to come back 24 hours later even it's already delivered for several hours....and the employee will say "it's USPS's problem""will contact the courier" without doing actual things or check the mailroom carefully. Also refuse to do any additional help. Also don't have any notice about some other thing(like your new key is ready or you need to renew your ID card), also someone stole my Wi-Fi router. It's ridiculous for them to provide worse service when elevating the rent. I think I'll not renew the rent for next year and of course I'll not recommend any of you to live here unless you want to "enjoy" some terrible serving experience The employee I need to announce is the thin lady with long blonde hair, she is very irresponsible and unhelpful, when I'm at the office to find an important package that worth around 775$, she did a very careless search and find nothing, I can understand that, and I asked her to write a brief prove so I can provide it to USPS if it's really lost( I believe that's not ridiculous requirement and kind of necessary right? Since the status of USPS is 'delivered') and she says "We never done this and you need to contact USPS yourself", what a wonderful way to treat your resident! 12/14/2023, And things becomes even worse, the apartment seems will make furnish as soon as their residents moves out and makes terrible noise from 8-9am to uncertain time, and the noise lasts for weeks! If you're grads or people that can't tolerant the noise, ESCAPE from the place! But I must admit most of the office employees improved the package process recently I add two videos about the noise without ANY notice today, and also I used online decibels detector and it shows the noise is over 80db if I open the window, and the noise restarts today and bothers me from around 7:30 am till now, 15:28 pm with a stop less than 50mins during lunch time! Well it's indeed a good service that helps you experience "headache" even you're healthy. And what's really ironic is that the apartment even added notice about their...

Location and appearance: The living conditions within the apartment is a 3 star. It looks slightly better than most of the places you've seen around campus. The place looks decent and spacious. The lighting in the living room is terrible. Only one side of the wall is lighted. 2 out of 4 rooms in our apartment are furnished while the other two has crappy old furniture. There are loud creeks and everything sounds like its about to fall apart. THERE'S ALSO LOTS OF CREEPY BUGS. THEY WILL BE IN YOUR KITCHEN, YOUR TUB, YOUR LIVING ROOM, YOUR BED! We clean our apartment daily and we checked around the house for openings they can cause for them to infiltrate the apartment. Nothing was found. We never open the windows, never leave a door open.

Customer services: When I signed the lease, everyone was all nice and understanding. Once you sign the GOD DAMN contract, everything went down hill. They start talking about the important things of the contract after you sign it. It's really unfair. Staffs has a negative attitude towards you and services to repair or replace furniture that's old and broken down takes forever to come. They promised you next week, they forget forever. They say they do their best to provide the most OUTSTANDING services to you, but they are all lies. They only care about appearance in my opinion.

Conclusion: This place deserves 1 star because the organization and services ruined it. They don't tell you how to or when to pay your rent. They say you pay utilities online on their website, but that's also baloney. You ask questions to the staffs (most staffs are inexperienced probably) at office, you get replies that are in a uncertain tone. If this place wants to get it together to provide the best service, do so. Don't just say it. Perhaps One North is called what it is because of receiving One Star.

In addition, they force you to get a guarantor or pay a large sum. They tell you on the month of move-in day. They don't tell you this before you sign the contract. This place is a scam. They...
