I was in town for mom’s weekend at UIUC and stopped by for lunch at Maple and Yolk. It was EXCEPTIONAL from start to finish. Needless to say, I was not surprised, having previously dined at the Urbana Gardens. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a modern and chic upgrade. But it’s truly the staff that make it so incredibly special.
While it was very busy, our server was highly attentive and immediately greeted us at the table. The entire staff made us feel valued and attended to throughout our meal.
The food! The food (and drinks) were a highlight— everything we ordered was beautifully presented and just bursting with flavor. Our food orders: Bavarian Cheeseburger and fries, Buffalo chicken wrap, Rooster sandwich, Grilled Chicken salad. My daughter is adamant that it was the best ranch dressing she’s ever had! We finished up with a few drinks including peach mimosa, boronica and lattes. A perfect end to a perfect meal.
Maple and Yolk is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food, all while being treated with warmth and hospitality. I wish we lived closer so I can stop by more often. I can’t...
Read moreWent for Saturday breakfast with four family members. Place was packed, parking overflowing into the Killarney annex parking lot. Two of our kids had been there the day before, and said it was just as packed. 25 minute wait, well worth it. They will take your cell number and text you, so you can sit in your car if you like. You can tell when staff like working at a place, it's a very good sign. Staff like working here. Once seated, our drinks order was taken in a few minutes, meal orders directly thereafter, and food came pretty quickly after that. The shredded hash browns came crispy, as requested, the eggs were perfect. The wheat toast is thick and rustic, and very filling. The portions are large, but so good that you don't want to leave any behind. Very filling. The atmosphere is very welcoming, people from diverse backgrounds, a happy hum. Five adults had breakfast with sides and drinks, plus a to-go order of pancakes for a daughter at work, for $101. The only drawback was that the gravy for the biscuits is just milk gravy, no sausage, so kind of bland. Didn't stop me from...
Read moreThis is the first time I've been excited about a restaurant in a long time. They have so many good choices, it was hard to make a decision. I will miss Urbana Garden (the restaurant that was there before), but I'm glad it was replaced by a good one. It was loud in there when we went, but that means they have good business. Perhaps some noise dampening tiles on the walls could mitigate that. The environment was clean and bright, so that was a plus.
Our waitress was very attentive, and the food came out incredibly fast. Though I didn't choose any of the meats, it was great to see turkey options on the menu, since we don't eat pork. Between the three of us, we got: blueberry cheesecake and hash browns, corned beef hash, and Belgian waffles with strawberries. I'm posting pics of all 3. I had the blueberry cheesecake and hash browns, and it was all delicious.
The serving sizes are generous, and my wife even brought back enough of the corn beef hash to feed two teenage boys at home. Overall, I'm really glad we checked the place out, and I'm looking forward to going again...
