Independent drivers beware, Capstone operated facility end to end. Avoid if you can, it's a total crapshoot. Company drivers, hope for the best, but don't be surprised if you get hung out to dry.
I've had two loads here in December 2024, both with stops after.
First load was a treat, arrived an hour and a half early, got a door within 30 mins, unloaded 8 skids within 45 mins of setting brakes, lumper fee was a bit high at $300 but typical Capstone shanking rates. Paperwork was ready as soon as the payment processed. Walked out to a green light and was on my way.
Second load was the polar opposite. Was told they were short handed but the place was not busy at all. Showed up 15 mins early, immediately assigned a door, took an hour for the plate to drop, spent 6 hours in the dock for 4 skids. Delayed text for load completion, lumper fee was $120, 15 mins for paperwork notification, nobody inside, paperwork just sitting on the window shelf. Resulted in 2 hour late delivery to next stop, ran my clock out of hours, and lost my return load to get home. This is much more representative of your typical UNFI/Capstone experience, I have been to many, and only once have I spent less than 6 hours...
Read moreMy appointment was on 3/24/22 at 23:00 Hrs. I got over there at about 10:00 AM, so early. I just wanted to shot my silver bullet, you know looking for luckily day to get unloaded early. When I got the guard shack, she told me: “ You’re so early, get out and come back at 09:30 Pm, they gave me the most closest truck stop ( Road Ranger), I spent my day there, took a shower and I came back 21:30 Hrs. At the guard shack she gave the instruction to be check in, I was calling no body picks the phone, at this point I went to the check in office, it’s located next to dock number 53. The guys in the office were so nice, they gave dock 7. They started to unloading my trailer two hours after my appointment time for only 4 pallets and they finished at about 01:40 AM. In other words do not get early out there, no overnight parking. It wasn’t a bad experience at all. THE ISSUE HERE IS WHY THEY DO NOT RESPECT OUR APPOINTMENT TIME. It s the part I do not like as a newbie driver, because I do my best to get on time. By the way lumper fees apply in...
