Went here twice and I now realize I got screwed both times. First visit I tried to sell some pokemon cards in an attempt to renew a childhood hobby, and to get some cash while I'm looking for a new job. Without even listening to what I was saying the dude just starts yanking cards out of their sleeves and basically calls them worthless. I didn't have high hopes to begin with because unfortunately the condition of most of my cards was not the best, which I didn't try to hide or lie about. However, he did want one that I later learned I misidentified as the least valuable version of that card. I went back the day after to attempt to sell some games I didn't care about for a few bucks, and see if he was interested in my original Xbox. Which I was offered an extremely insulting $5 for and told that controllers are hard to find, which was a blatant lie. On my way out I noticed the card I sold them marked up to 4x what he gave me for it. That and the offer on the xbox made me suspicious, so I did deeper research and learned of my mistakes, and the reputation of this store. One of the games I sold them is a slightly scarce collectors' item that is worth about $25 now. (even though the game itself sucks, which is why I thought it wasn't worth much) I got $3 for it. Thankfully my mistakes weren't super expensive but I still feel cheated and disrespected. These are dishonest people that will take advantage of you.
From what I've read, my experience with this store isn't unique. They've screwed people over way harder than they got me. Or they at least attempted to but those people had the experience and knowledge to know better. I also sincerely doubt the legitimacy of many of their 5 star reviews. Maybe some just didn't realize the store got one over on them, but I think the store wrote some of these reviews themselves, or coerced their friends to.
I understand y'all need to make a profit but this underhandedness and opportunism is disgusting. Earlier today I went some place else where I bought cards for literally EXACTLY what they were worth as of today, and a booster pack that I managed to pull a good card from. I'll be going there from now on.
tldr: this place will screw you, so screw them. go...
Read moreI was down visiting a friend from out of state and brought some football and wrestling cards with me as we usually go through our collections every year or so. We attempted to sell some items here and the money that was offered was insulting.
I understand the need for the business to have space for a markup, but to cut that deeply was eyebrow raising at best. We then compared the prices of their inventory for similar product and worked out what the markup and it's highway robbery.
We ended up leaving and shopping around our cards and got a vary fair price from a local competitor who also didn't feel the need to try and talk down to us.
I won't try to dissuade anyone from doing business here, and I hope our experience was an anomaly. I just know we had a marvelous experience elsewhere and that makes me grateful as a consumer for more options in our areas.
Edit So now I'm being called a liar by the ownership and both my friend and I have geotags at this place. Additionally, I just went and read the reviews of the place I went to but DIDN'T mention by name and funny enough, there's a negative review written by an account controlled...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience. We contacted the store earlier in the week and the lady who answered informed us of their upcoming "buying day," which we decided to plan for. We proceeded to make the 40 mile drive south today for the event, which was allegedly scheduled from noon to 6pm, however upon arrival we were told that they couldn't purchase any of the collection of sports cards that we brought in for the event, because no one was working to look at any of them. We presented the binder of Pokemon cards to the only apparent employee in the store, whom quickly skimmed through the pages and refused to consider buying a single card from the entire book. We were first-timers at this store and had made special arrangements in order to come all the way out to Venice for this event. Really bummed that no one could be bothered...
