Great food great owner great waitress. You can’t beat this little cozy restaurant for a local haunt. The turkey sausage lasagne was excellent. It’s different then the standard meat lasagne more taste and served in a bowl. YUM!!! The salad to start the meal was refreshing with a nice Italian dressing. They serve awesome cheese dip in between the courses. We also had the chicken parmigiana special. The chicken was perfectly cooked very tender not dried out with light breading and just enough cheese and sauce to make it delicious without drowning out the amazing chicken. The dessert was a homemade triple layer lemon cake. It was perfect especially after a red sauce meal. Good wine selection and the owner was knowledgeable in helping with choices. The atmosphere is local small cozy clean in a convenient strip mall right south of Venice on way to englewood. They have a nice bar a couch area super comfy and tables. There was a guitar player who was nice not loud. I would highly recommend this place. For the amount and quality of good you can’t beat the price. The Italian food in Venice including this restaurant is top so worth the trip down from Sarasota. This place has a few different non standard Italian choices too...
Read moreFour of us recently dined at the Living Room, which had just been beautifully decorated for the holidays and really does resemble a living room. Debbie and Shelly provided attentive, friendly service without being intrusive. We shared complementary pretzel sticks with some kind of cheese dip, then had a great appetizer of Pigs in the Blanket - just enough for each of us to have 2 or 3 small bites. Not greasy at all! I had a tasty potato/cheese soup and the others had salads, which they really enjoyed. All of our dinners were delicious - I had the chicken enchiladas, others had the four-cheese lasagna, chicken cordon bleu casserole, and baked enchiladas. All were hearty and filling. We knew in advance what the menu included and had eaten lightly earlier in the day! Great rolls were also served. Sadly, no one had room for dessert. Reservations highly recommended - we were lucky and squeezed in early but that was almost three weeks ago. We will...
Read moreMy friend whose been here before suggested that we go for our girl’s night out. I’m hlad we did. What a fun atmosphere and the owner is wonderful and conversational.
The food choices are good ol back in the day comfort faborites. Turkey Tetrazinni, Shepherds pie, Chicken corfon blue, stuffed sweet peppers .
Alot of the dishes if not all are made to order. I had the chicken enchiladas and my friend had the stuffed peppers. Both excellent plates. They had 3 featured wines that evening. The owner suggested the most affordable one( could have been the opposite) It was excellent and they had a special, second bottle 1/2 off if we wanted.
A great visit, I really enjoyed the meal, atmosphere and my company. We were able to stay past closing and chat while they were cleaning. This is a very popular restaurant. Not sure if its wise to go without a reservation, They open at 4:30 and last...
