Critter Place LLC — Local services in Vernon Township

We got our dog from this place a month ago. Initially, the owner was nice until we paid $1,100 for the dog. The dog wasn't eating well when we brought him home but she still told me to wait 14 days before I take him to the vet. A week into the dog being in our house, we knew something was wrong. We ended up taking him to the vet and he had Giarda.....curable, but required medicine for two weeks. I called her up and told her what has happened. She told me to bring the vet bill and she will refund me for the visit which was over a $100. Never mentioned that she wants me to bring it within 5 days of my phone call per law, apparently....which makes sense now. She didn't say it cause she wanted to get by without refunding me the money. I called the place few times after I spoke to her to see if she was there cause I wanted to stop by with my dog to show it to her.....she always said to come with him. I live on the other side of the town so I don't go by her shop on daily basis. Finally I stopped by and gave her the bill. I was told by her that technically she doesn't have to refund me the money since I did not come within 5 days of our conversation...which she never mentioned on the phone. She did tell me she will process the refund. She made a copy of the bill and I left. Few weeks went by and nothing. I texted her two days ago on the number she used before I bought the dog...no answer, I texted her this morning and left her a voicemail....no answer. So I stopped by there with my two boys today to find out what is wrong. When I came into the shop she started yelling at me on front of my children, insulting my husband saying that he is language challenged (English is his second language). She kept on insulting me and telling me that if I'm so strapped for money she will give me the money back today.....this is after I paid $1,100 for my puppy. Very...

Love it. Upon entering one may think it's a rather small store: on the contrary, they make excellent use of the space. They have a great selection of fish accessories including meds, decor, filtration/pumps, the works. Excellent (and great priced) reptile accessories. Bird related items are on the low side, but more than enough to hold you over until a trip to Petco/Amazon order arrives!

The staff are 100% on their game, very friendly and most of all knowledgeable.

If your looking for fish, don't let the current stock deter you: they can order a wide variety of fish (not to mention they can get them younger AND cheaper than the larger stores down the highway)

Overall an A++ from me. I stop in every other day for crickets for my bearded dragon (purchased there as well).

Whether it's a one time stop or a regular routine, this store can easily...

Barbara was cheerful and knowledgeable while dealing with one customer at a time. We bought our puppy from her and she is an absolute doll. “Aunt” Barb knew a lot about her habits and personality, which is extremely useful in her training.
