Sussex County Library- Dorothy Henry Branch — Attraction in Vernon Township

Don't come here if you want a quiet library to study or read in. I sat here and listened to a woman who came in, sat down in the study area of the library, and immediately called Verizon talk to them about why her contacts weren't on her phone properly. After 20 minutes I went and asked the librarian if phone calls were permitted in the library and replied that they were; I'm guessing by the smile that she thought I was asking if it would be okay for me to make a call. Well an hour more passes and it's nearly time for the library to close, and the phone lady tells the Verizon customer assistant that she is now going to go home and have a beer now that they resolved her contacts issue on her phone. I went and spoke to the librarians on my way out and let them know my displeasure because the only reason I came to the library was to study in some silence. They apologized and informed me that their higher-ups set the policy and that they aren't allowed to tell anyone to get off their phone, in fact, they can't can't say anything until someone complains about the loud phone calls. I asked if they had "quiet areas" and they told me the back meeting room area could be a spot...if unused. I'm thinking if folks want to spend time on the phone, those people need to leave the library or go to the back...

This is horrible library with heartless people who only want to make a profit !!!! My family is a bunch of readers and we came to library at least twice a week .but i no longer go there because My husband of 20 years of marriage died of a sudden heart attack .I had to tell our daughters there daddy was gone and i was in unbearable emotional pain and depression A few weeks later i went to library and returned ALL items and explained the circumstances of my husbands death They still wanted to charge me overdue amount for each day ..i told them how we were hurting because of his income lost and now funeral expenses . Librarian talked to head person in charge and said that i had to pay and they will be putting it in collections and my credit would be affected if i didnt make the overdue payment Which they did ! This library systems is heartless and only care about...

I was looking for a place to stay all day for my hospital orientation via Zoom because our internet connection where we are staying at won’t be good enough. I came across Vernon Township Libraries and tried their Chat Support and it worked! Someone accommodated my inquiries, her name is Jenna, even when it’s a holiday.

I came in the following day to the library and asked if I can have a space to do my zoom meeting and they let me use their study/meeting room, I was there all by myself, away from distraction and with very fast wifi connection! What a relief! I came in for another day and people working here were ready to assist.
