Today I had the distinct pleasure of talking with Stephen in the service department of Pinkys Iron Doors. My unbelievably wonderful experience is something I must share. I live in Florida. I hired a locksmith to rekey the locks on my Castle Iron Doors. (see attached photo) These doors were on my home when I purchased it. As my locksmith was removing the tumbler of the lock, it opened (probably due to age) and all the inner parts hit the floor. The manufacturer of the tumbler was Westlock. I watched as the locksmith struggled, for an hour, to put the inner mechanisms back into he tumbler. I told him we must switch to Plan B. My plan was to find a You Tube video that demonstrates how to put a Westlock tumbler back together. Up came a video from Pinkys Iron Doors. We watched as the gentleman showed how to put the tumbler back into the lock but there was nothing showing how to put the pieces back into the tumbler. At of all the days for this to happen, today Florida is dealing with a Cat 4 hurricane Helene. I was not prepared for the prospect of going to sleep with my front door open. I decided to call Pinkys and see if they could walk my locksmith through the steps of getting everything put back in its’ place. When I called Pinkys, the person who picked up, after hearing my story, transferred me to Stephen in the service department. There are not enough superlatives and accolades I can give Stephen. He knew I was not a customer. He knew that I had never purchased anything from his store. Despite all that, he did want to help. Today we live in a world where not everyone is as selfless as Stephen is when it comes to helping others. He took 30 minutes of his time to speak to my locksmith, as I emailed him photos of all the inner parts. (see attached photo) By the end of the half hour, he produced the solution that allowed my locksmith to fix what was necessary to get my lock back on my front door. I told him that I was going to leave a google review as a testament to a company that deserves your business. The characters of both the person who answered the phone and Stephen speak volumes about why this company is so highly rated. It was such a pleasure having met you and if I ever need anything for my beautiful castle door, or anyone asks, “where can I get a beautiful castle door” I will gladly refer them to Pinkys. Stephen, I want to thank you sincerely for today. You owed me nothing yet gave me everything you had! Sincerely yours, Mona Kirsch, Windermere, FL

Not For the Faint of Heart I came to Pink's for doors because of the wonderful reviews. I had a different experience. Please read this before going in. First, you should know as a potential buyer that the black paint is very delicate and will scratch easily or come off with any sort of adhesive. Also, I was warned when I received the doors that they should not be exposed to water or rain. I'm guessing because of the finish. If I had known this initially, I may not have gone ahead with the order. The design process for the doors took over three weeks. I had a sketch I created in Illustrator, it was not to scale but it did give a general idea of the doors. Honestly, it probably could have been finished in a day with the sketch and a five minute phone conversation with design but it took over three weeks to get it close to my original idea. It was painfully slow. Also, I wasn't given any sort of heads up to how long the process would take or any sort of helpful hints to move to process along. Technically, I was not supported at all. Admittedly I am not technically savvy with doors at all. Something I said a few times to my salesperson but didn't actually get any technical information. Maybe she felt it wasn't her job, which is fair but some sort of information or at least acknowledging my emails would have been great. I was super nervous to buy a custom door, especially since the final sketch is approved by me. So even if there is a mistake made on the sketch by the designer that I wouldn't see or understand because of my lack of experience, it is still my problem. I came with the assumption that I could rely on the company to help with the process and that was not the case for me. You should know that before buying After all of this, the doors look fine. For some reason there is an extra hole on the dummy side. I'm not sure why but as soon as I can find some hardware to cover it up, it won't be that big of a deal. The doors are exposed to the weather, so I have my fingers crossed that they will hold up. And I will order from them again. A matching set is needed for the main house next year and they will be completely covered by a patio roof. Probably a more ideal situation now that I know. On Yelp there are so many happy reviews so I'm clearly in the minority. Hopefully you'll see this an learn from my mistakes

We have done several projects with Pinky's doors and windows and are always pleased with the quality, durability and cost of their products - much more affordable than other competitive steel windows & doors. Most recently we ordered 6 pair of french doors, a huge arched entry door and a number of custom casement windows. The locking mechanisms on their casement windows are very cool. Note that their casements do not easily accommodate screens, but in the southwest screens are not necessarily a 'must have', but something to consider if you live in a buggy part of the country. Since they are made in Asia, the leadtime on the customs was considerably longer than we would have liked, but they arrived within days of the initial estimate. We use Emtek locks with Pinky's which require a bit of fiddling with the strikeplates, but we have found the quality of Emtek hardware superior to the locksets provided by Pinky's direct. Installation Note: the tolerances on the doors are very tight and even a 1/8" out of square will result in misalignment and rubbing, so you need a professional crew with the right equipment to ensure proper installation. After sale support has been great. We have had to replace a pane after installation and Pinky's was quick to send a replacement. I do wish they had some options on muntins as the stock grids are fairly thick. I would prefer a thinner shadow-line, especially on some of the smaller windows. Perhaps that is something they will offer in the future.

Love Our New Pinky’s Iron Door

My introduction do iron doors was at a local home show and my wife and knew that this was the direction we wanted to go when we finally purchased a new door. As much as we liked the doors at that time the product at the home show was a small fortune for a single entry door.

After several months of research and scouring the internet for a new iron door, I decided to go with Pinky’s Iron Doors and so glad I did.

I called Pinky’s multiple times prior to submitting my order on line. Staff was always very professional and provided information related to my questions. Let’s face it unless you drive down to the showroom your making a significant purchase and investment for your home based on photos and videos. I have to say that Pink’s also provides a very user friendly website and provides great videos of their products.

I finally submitted my order and the wait began. It took about 10 weeks until I was notified that my door was ready and available for pick up. I was updated on progress from start to finish and knew that there may be a slight delay due to the California Covid Debacle. Just Roll with It!

I made the three hour drive to LA to pick up our new door, what I can say… I’m Cheap wanted to save on the delivery free. Upon my arrival I was welcomed by staff and assisted by Jacob who completed the final paper work and personally assisted loading up my door. Thank you Jacob was a pleasure meeting you!

The day for install finally arrived! The door was very well packed and crated. My wife and I are self-proclaimed DIY legends in our own minds and decided to install the door ourselves. I have installed a couple of regular doors prior to this and said what the heck…. I Got This!

To my surprise and extreme joy the install was very easy and seamless, other than the door weighing about the size of a one month old baby elephant! So glad my wife works out! If you’re going to install this door yourself make sure you have strong abled bodies (2 or more) to assist.

We love our new door and so glad we made the decision to purchase the Air 8 single flat from Pinky’s. The door is very well made and solid. We love the opening glass and purchased the screen option to keep the pesky flies and insects out when utilizing the glass opening.

In closing I only have two recommendations. First you’re making a significant purchase here… don’t scrimp on the door and extras you want for your home.

Second … Go with Pinky’s Iron Doors, you will not find a better product out there for your hard earned dollar and will not be...

Pinky's Survival Guide:

(1 Stars) The product is beautiful. We really enjoy the atmosphere created by these french doors. Wonderful addition to our redesigned kitchen.

(-1 Star) Pinky's suggests that it's easy to install their doors yourself. They offer a video on their website. After speaking with a door professional, this is a clever way for Pinky's to be a retail company versus hiring contractors. If you watch the tutorial video -- it's not that easy for an average citizen to put it together.

Also just to further assist you, Pinky's does not sell hardware with their doors! So you have to also order this hardware (screws, locks, handled) separately, which costed us an additional $600).

(-2 Stars) Horrible Return Policy. Be sure to get a professional to measure before ordering. If you get it wrong, they will ask for a stocking fee (25% of the door price, which for us was over 1,000 dollars). Plus, at least 800 dollars for shipping it back.

Customer service also declined any coverage for any exchanges. They also said it's just best to resell the door yourself, but get this -- who's going to buy a customizable door for thousands of dollars near you? An exciting project became quite a financial burden, but my partner and I found a way to make it work despite the financial pitfall only because we had additional money to do so.

Be cautious before ordering. Beautiful product, but a dangerous/unforgiving company to screw up any details with. A rose with thorns...

Response to Owner From My Review:

Thank you for responding to my review. Unfortunately, it was not apparent enough that we ordered the door without the hardware. It's also uncommon to buy a door without a handle/items that allow it to function (so it's understandable we did not look for or ask ourselves whether or not it came with such pieces). What might make it more helpful for your clients in the future is to write it in the descriptions as well.

As I said in the previous review, we did not find that your customer service was flexible at all. So it seems we both have different experiences of the service you provide. Also, we did not install our doors at all in fact they were sitting in a garage for a month. Your services offered NO exchanges installed or not. Please trust your customers when they say they have tried their best to return a product that does not work for them. I do not understand where we are getting different experiences of your services, but I only speak of mine after calling your customer...
