I know this is a lot, but please take the time to read!
I always went to CMBAC when I lived in Bham and have always been greeted with amazing front desk staff and the given the best care to my babies! However, Iāve recently moved to Tuscaloosa and was just going to find a clinic here to save myself the drive. Back in February, I noticed my 12 year old cat was limping. I visited almost every clinic in town to get a feel of the place and aside from either being completely ignored or treated like I was an inconvenience, I finally found 2 that I could semi deal with. I took her to the first place and they gave me a bone cancer diagnosis. Let me tell you, my world was shattered. The vet was nice at this place but the front desk staff treated me like absolute trash and they all acted like they all had somewhere better to be. Plus the clinic was filthy and run down. I then took her to the other clinic for another opinion and when we got brought back into the room after 30 minutes of waiting while being the only one there and no front desk staff to be found, I finally got taken back. I then waited in the room for yet another 20 minutes before anyone came in and when they finally did, they took Zoey in the back and I didnāt see her again for another 20 minutes while I sat there a twirled my thumbs and listened to her scream through the door(mind you, she typically loves going to the vet because she gets lots of attention, so I have no idea what they were doing that she was reacting like that). I was not impressed by the vet who finally came to talk to me (still without bringing my cat back) and all he was concerned about was talking about himself. Absolutely disgusted in both places and decided I wanted to stop wasting my time with the Tuscaloosa clinics and scheduled an appointment with CMBAC.
They were able to get me in asap for a visit to assess her leg themselves and recommend amputation. Dropping her off for that surgery was one of the hardest days because I was terrified something would go wrong. Let me tell you the clinic staff and honestly everyone there was SO amazing at easing my worries. They constantly kept me updated throughout the day and sent me pictures of her after her surgery to let me know she did great! I love all the doctors there but Dr. Schofill did her surgery and she did an outstanding job with my baby. Now 4 months later, Zoey is back to her happy self, she has adjusted to the 3-leg life so easily, still runs and plays with the other cats and isnāt in pain anymore. I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS recommend CMBAC and I get so excited when people ask me where I go because I canāt wait to tell them! The front desk staff is so friendly to talk to and the vets and techs do everything for their clients to make sure weāre happy and our babies are given the best care. Theyāre always there to answer my questions and give me information when I need it. When you go to CMBACās website, youāll see āFinest in Veterinaryā right on the main page and that is 100% accurate without a doubt the greatest clinic I have ever taken my cats to, and I have been to a lot of clinics throughout their lives. Iāve lived in Iowa and Wisconsin and now Alabama, and over the course of my cats lives, CMBAC will forever be my favorite! I will always make the drive to take my cats there because I know they will receive the absolute best care and I trust the hands, love, and compassion of everyone at CMBAC!
Photos below are of how she used to sit before surgery with her ouchie leg, the photo I got from CMBAC when she woke up from surgery (look how comfy and snuggly she is with that blankie!), the night we brought her home from surgery (her incision site looks amazing!), and the last photo is a couple months later after her stitches were out and the hair slowly coming back in. :)
Sheās doing amazing! Once in a while I do have to help her scratch though, Iāll see her head tilt to the side and that little chicken wing down there just a goin trying to scratch her chin haha so mama steps in to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I went yesterday for my husky bc she was throwing up and had horrible diarrhea they took an X-ray and said thereās stuff in her stomach and intestine...and they said surgery was the only option and it had to be soon. The surgery would be $1200-$2000 and I had to scramble to get the money and had to get a loan and everything. The loan had so much interest I would have to pay $200-$400 a month JUST INTREST. So then we went the next day to a different clinic and they said the ULTRASOUND AND X-RAY WERE CLEAR! Everything that was in her stomach passed through and sheās gonna be completely fine. Cahaba clinic was so desperate for the surgery when they could of been like letās wait a day or two before surgery to see if everything can pass through. If it donāt then surgery even the other clinic I went to said to wait and see if it passes through. It was unbelievable how they tried to get so much money from my husband and I. We would be in so much debt right now if we didnāt go to the other clinic. Which I wouldnāt minded if it was for my dog wellbeing but they should of done a better job. I will never come back here ever again. If they say surgery the only option get a 2nd opinion!!!! And thank god I didnāt receive the loan yet so I was able to cancel it before i got it. It really hurt how they said surgery was the only option but when we went to the other clinic they said she didnāt need it at all. I cried about it all last night thinking we needed to do surgery and we were gonna be in debt when we didnāt need it at all. Itās just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis post is LONG overdue. I can not say enough positive things about the Dr. Schofill, Dr. Cobb and the rest of the lovely team at CMBAC! They go above and beyond, and it truly feels like a family. Our boy, Duke, started out here as a pup and saw them until he was 5 years old. Then we moved to Colorado. Just a few months ago, at 8 years old, our sweet boy was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and he died shortly after. Dr. Schofill and Dr. Cobb continued to advise us from afar as they consulted with our vet in Denver multiple times to look over x-rays, bloodwork, etc to help us make the very best decision for our sweet boy. Nothing was off the table. They never gave up on him, they managed our expectations, and they did EVERYTHING humanly possible to help Duke in his final weeks. I will always remember the love they gave us during such a difficult time. After we decided on a course of action for his end of line care, they regularly called to check in on Duke and wanted to be kept in the loop until the very end. The staff and the doctors at CMBAC have created a very special practice, where the best interest of your pet is at the core of everything they do. We have been back home in Alabama during the quarantine and we just got a new puppy. Our new puppy has had his first round of shots and checkups at CMBAC, and we wouldn't have it any other way! They are simply the best in Birmingham and I can't recommend...
