I had a large crack in 1 of my teeth and had to have an extraction and a bone graft done yesterday. From the time of the initial phone call from Roden Oral, Facial, and Dental Implant Surgery on Wednesday afternoon and my 5 subsequent calls (all of them initiated by me with questions I thought of later on), I could not have asked for a better experience. The staff I interacted with on the phone could not have been more pleasant, professional, or patient with me and extremely knowledgeable regarding my questions. When I arrived yesterday, I admit I was somewhat nervous because I had not met my surgeon yet nor had I always had the best experiences with other oral surgeons. The office was extremely amazing looking with gorgeous antique hard carved wood and lots of comfortable couches and chairs spread out, which was extremely important to me because I was coming off a long Covid bout. My friend who came with me is also a doctor at Brookwood Medical Center and he too was impressed with the decor.
From the time I walked in the door, the front office staff made me fill at ease, as did each of the medical assistants I interacted with, and Dr. Roden. They each made me feel like I was an important patient, who was seen and especially heard. They were not in a hurry scurrying about, but each one made sure I was comfortable and understood what was going to happen. The nurse who did my iv was extremely gentle and made sure I was comfortable where she placed the iv. Dr. Roden was very affable, and wanted to make sure he was not only familiar with my health history (which is 36+ years and extremely complicated with lots of major surgeries in multiple states with different doctors, including my dental experiences) and my medications but wanted to also know what my concerns were for the surgery. My biggest one is what it is always is - pain management because of chronic pain issues and 19 major and probably 75 minor surgeries, I am extremely pain intolerant (my nerve endings seem to be constantly on so what would cause other people a little pain causes an extreme amount of pain in me), but I am also pain medication intolerant as well (which means I have to take a large quantity of a lot stronger pain medications than most people do to get comfortable, but I also have allergies to 3 of the big ones so I cannot use those). Dr. Roden heard me, and I do not remember anything that happened after I got the iv medication going and walked out of there in no pain. He was true to his word in his care of me!
I still face a dental implantation in 4-6 months and eventually a crown on the implant after the implant heals, but I am 100% going back to him for the implant (my regular dentist will do the crown) and will 100% tell my friends and any of you who are reading this to go to him for any of your oral, facial, or dental implant surgeries! I couldnât recommend anyone more highly!!!
The biggest surprise I had of anything was that Dr. Roden himself called me from his office last night at 9pm to personally check on me and let me know to call him with anything I needed over the weekend or any time afterward. I can honestly say, I do not ever remember a doctor calling me at home on a Friday night to check on a surgery he/she had done on the surgery day. Wow, truly amazing!
So many heartfelt thanks goes to Dr. Roden and his staff for the incredible experience I had with...
Read moreI thought I had an amazing experience with Roden Oral surgery. I had to get 4 wisdom teeth taken out and my gums cut. Dr. Roden was amazing and I had an awesome experience the day of my surgery. Even during my recovery Dr. Rodens office called me every week to check on me and see how I was recovering. Overall my experience was great đ Unfortunately, when it came to the financial part I did not have a great experience. It had nothing to do with not me having the money for my surgery, because i did. My problem was getting an estimate of my total cost for my surgery one day and being told my insurance was not going to pay for anything and that I would be paying out of pocket quite a bit. Which I was fine with because my surgery had to be done. The day of my surgery I asked again how much it would cost and they told me a little bit higher of a cost but I was still fine with proceeding. As I get into my room before they did my surgery they repeated to me verbally everything I was paying for and the total cost of my surgery and that it needed to be paid at the moment before I can start my surgery. I confirmed and told the lady to have my husband in the waiting room go ahead and pay for everything at the moment. We were told we would pay about $1,560 for everything that day and we paid it all. A couple weeks after my surgery I get a Bill in the mail from Dr. Rodenâs office saying I owed another $900-1,260 for my surgery. I called the office and they told me my total price for my surgery was close to $4,000 and apparently my insurance paid some of my bill but I still owe $960 because apparently their records didnât have certain costs the day of my surgery and on their end they made a bad estimate. It all seemed very messy and it really sucked for me to have thought I paid my Bill and I was done but to be blindsided weeks later with another Bill that just didnât understand the confusion. I paid the rest I owed but I am really disappointed and upset with how my experience ended. I will unfortunately not recommend Dr. Roden to anyone in case something like this were to happen. I wouldnât want anyone having to deal with a financial...
Read moreSoon after I received my crown; pain in the space where the crown was placed begin aching. After the dentist made adjustments; pain persisted. My dentist did not see anything unusual. Over several months of visiting my primary care physician and the ENT specialist to see if they were able to determine a cause; several tests were given; and nothing of significance was found. I was told to revisit my general dentist and tell her their findings. My dentist viewed X-rays and still did not see a problem : but did notice something in another area. I reminded her that the pain is from the area of the placed crown. She requested that I return to Dr. Roden for a reevaluation. He performed extensive X-rays on my teeth. Gums, and sinuses. He could not pinpoint the exact problem; but was extremely concerned with what was causing me pain and discomfort. Dr. Roden mentioned that he was a, âFix It Guyâ and not knowing what my problem is was very concerning. Dr. Roden did offer a suggestion that he wants my dentist to do regarding my crown and he will forward this information to her. I appreciate Dr. Rodenâs professionalism, empathy, and willingness to search for a resolution. With the aid of Dr. Roden and my general dentist, my problem will hopefully...
