Scott, the manager was very comfortable being disrespectful to my partner and I. As soon as we asked the woman at the front counter about returning a floor model lawn mower that fell apart as soon as it was brought home, we heard a condescending voice from behind a cabinet say “that’s not going to happen”. Scott continued to speak from across the store unit we asked him to please speak with us directly. We were met with nothing but being brushed off and cut off rather than an attempt to resolve the issue.
Scott interrupted my partner repeatedly. He offered no remorse for our inconvenience. He cut her off and would not let her speak more than a few words. He repeated “so you’re saying I’m lying?” rather than listening to what she was saying. Scott was not a part of the sale when she bought the mower and wad unwilling to try to resolve the issue with her.
At one point Scott interrupted her to say “who am I talking to? You or you? Should I stand here or here?” while he laughed in our faces. We spoke calmly and attempted to resolve the situation while he antagonized us. Scott said “no one told you to drive back and forth to New Berlin”. Scott justified his behavior because he had to drive to a different Ace location for a bolt. He works in a hardware store.
Rebecca, the woman at the front counter told me that Scott is acting this way because it’s inventory day. She said that on inventory days, he communicates more casually because he’s so busy. Her acknowledgement of the disrespect but justifying it was an odd take.
I have a very hard time imagining Scott treating a woman this way in front of her husband.
I read another review from a woman who was laughed at by two male managers at this location. Curious who that could have. All this to say, support other hardware stores such as Neu’s...
Read moreI walked in the door, was greeted by a young female associate and two old men. The young woman asked what I was looking for. I told her, she thought a moment, and then walked to the section the product I was looking for was located. She was very helpful, she was not the issue. The issue was the two old men, who started laughing and making derogatory comments when I stated the product I was looking for, a MadeSmart Drawer Organizer. I DO NOT APPRECIATE being laughed at, especially when I am a paying customer, and a local homeowner to boot. In case no one told these two, women are capable of owning property and purchasing goods for said property. My husband and I were so excited when Ace went in, as it is walking distance from our house, and could save us from trekking to Home Depot, Menards, Lowe's, etc. We will not set foot in this store again. Completely offensive. To add continued insult, the marketing department is now bombarding me with promotional materials. Why, exactly, would I spend a single penny more in this store, or ever set foot in the store again after being...
Read moreWill not go out of their way for you. Needed a key blank cut and they wouldn't do it unless I bought their blank.. Things like this ace use to do for their customers.. now even to a small hardware store we are just a number... Ironic thing, I took my blank to Menards and they were happy to cut it for me. Didn't need anything programmed to the car, just needed the grooves cut into the blank.. such a simple thing and it just couldn't be done for me.. It's just Sad! Ace isn't what it use to be.. To make things worse the manager lied to me about why he couldn't do it.. If you need to lie then your knowing just being bogus... Let's not take 3 minutes to cut a blank because I brought it to keep a customer happy and wanting to come back . Maybe I'm petty but when a store wont help me and then lies about why they won't I'm just done going there.. I wish...
