First of all, I have to admit that I was very put off by needing to set an appointment to see someone. The gates are locked and you cannot enter the stores area without calling ahead. While they do use covid as an excuse for this, the truth is that they spend a lot of time explaining everything about their trailers so that the customer fully understands what they are getting. So, covid is not the reason. (I wish people would stop using covid as an excuse). The science continually proves that no one is getting covid by going to a cargo trailer store. Especially when outside with the wind blowing.
The phone was the only interruption and there are many calls. One would think that they would have some type of receptionist to answer all the calls they get. So yes it is very hard to get a hold of them many times and they don't always return calls either. It was the main reason I chose not to do business with the Albuquerque store.
On the good side of things, I traveled to El Paso for other reasons, but while I was there I decided to visit the Trailers Plus store there in town. Finally after receiving an appointment, I did end up purchasing a 20-ft cargo trailer. They do seem to be well built, clean, and there are several models to choose from. They are rather proud of them as well. Don't let them fool you with selling prices. They can budge off the prices. Also check the dimensions of the trailer because the one I was originally interested in had the wrong dimensions as far as the inside height of the trailer. That made a difference.
I'm one that notices my surroundings and that usually sells me on things. The store was clean and well kept. While it was understaffed, in my opinion, they knew their product and had pretty much anything that I might want extra with my trailer. They made sure that everything worked, discussed all the details of owning a trailer like this and working with it, and when I drove off the lot, I knew that everything worked. That was important to me. So, the only downfall to this business is that they use excuses that don't really add up. Stop using covid as an excuse and move on with your lives! If covid was really as bad as everybody is advertising it right now, everybody would have it, vaccine or not. Be more transparent about your business practices. Tell people you give an excellent product and you make sure that when they buy that product they are made fully aware of everything and this takes time. That's why appointments have to be scheduled.
All In all, it's only been a few days since I've owned the trailer. However, I pulled it 5 hours from the store to my home traveling at interstate speeds as well as rural road speeds. High winds were noticed, but I had no problems pulling this trailer and that was a very important thing to me since I'm traveling to Alaska. Yes, I would gladly buy another trailer from them again... If only they would...
Read moreRobert & other gentleman were very professional and polite but the reason for there business is to Sale trailers and I literally couldn’t buy a trailer after 4 visits. My first visit, i traveled from horizon to Vinton 45 min drive and to find the gate closed but they looked opened, I thought maybe they were on lunch? So I hopped over the gate. There was no “no enter sign” at this moment. I opened the front door and I was explained very quickly that they only work by appointment. Please know as a customer you naturally get the unwelcome feeling which is not good but he stilled helped me after he was done with whatever he was doing and he show me the trailers, which is expected by any business selling a product. I left with a emailed quote and he followed with a phone call few days later, which was great. 2nd visit I came during normal business Operating hours and no one was there. 3rd visit they had a no enter sign at the gate, it truly made me upset because I just wanted to buy the trailer and I made the drive. after this failed try, I called and made a appointment but unfortunately I couldn’t make the appointment the following day. Today 4th visit, I urgently needed the trailer and I stopped by and hopped the gate, even tho there’s a no enter sign and your immediately hit with the unwanted feeling and even tho They were with clients at the moment. I didn’t mind waiting for them to be done and then they could help me after just like any business does, which totally understandable. Yes there polite employees and Knowledgeable but this is what you expect. It’s not something to congratulate. I had cash on hand and I wanted to pay in full, give my registration info and connect my trailer and leave and I didn’t mind waiting but I was asked to Leave. I don’t believe these employees can’t put alittle more effort and hustle. Even tho your short staffed My recommendation is you have Someone there 8 hrs a day taking customers one by one and another employee taking appointments. Obviously me visiting the site During normal business hours and no one on-site says something. Again I appreciate your professionalism but I tried to support your business and I was asked to leave. Whatever way you wanna look at it. I literally wanted to buy a trailer but I couldn’t after 4 visits, I’m only writing this experience to hopefully help you all because I truly think you all are good people but “come on” show some more hustle and multitasking skills and leadership, your not gotta effect your quality or customer service . You all are selling trailers not Ferrari’s. Hopefully you all can revised your...
Read moreWas skeptical about the whole "by appointment only" setup during this pandemic and fully expected to be dealt with by a used car salesman, but that is completely NOT what happened.
Robert was the sale rep who took care of me, and I have to say that he went above and beyond the level of service that I was expecting, or even needed. He was thorough and courteous and extremely helpful. It was just a small trailer that I was buying, but Robert treated me like I was buying the most expensive trailer on the lot. Kudos to him!
Was a seamless experience that took about an hour from the time I drove up to the time I drove away. They did a full inspection of the trailer before letting me go, and I have absolutely no issues with that. I've really never had an experience like this while buying a trailer, but I would definitely do it again, and I would definitely recommend TrailersPlus to anyone. Just find your trailer online, put down a $50 refundable security deposit to reserve it, they will call you up and get your appointment set up, then just go get your trailer!!!
PS - I got my trailer at TrailersPlus for about $1000 less than the price at Home Depot, so not only was it a good buying experience, it was a...
