On November 20, 2024 I had dinner at Great American Steakhouse in Vinton, TX. After being sat at our table I removed my jacket and heard something hit the floor. I looked at the ground and didn’t see anything. Well unknown to me at the time. One of my beloved gold bracelets had slipped off my wrist. I went home that night without a clue.
It was later in the evening, the following night. I realized it was missing. I called Great American at opening on November 22. I spoke to a manager with the initials of LS. She informed me that no one had found my bracelet. I asked if she could check the cameras. She called me back and she said she reviewed the cameras. No one had found my bracelet. I then asked if perhaps I could see the cameras as I was absolutely sure at this point I had lost it at the table, in the restaurant.
She informed me that I would have to file a police report, and they would be able to see the cameras. Wanting to do everything in my power to find my $7,000 bracelet I’d had since the early 90’s. One I’m seldom without. I drove to the restaurant. I called police non emergency to file a formal report. I was told by the manager with the initials of LS, that the police will not be able to see the cameras. I asked LS if she was the same manager I had spoken to on the phone, and she said she was.
Once an officer arrived. LS informed the officer he would not be allowed to see their cameras. At this point I was devastated, but still decided to fill out a police report based on the value of my bracelet. While driving back to Las Cruces. Approximately ten minutes away from the restaurant. I received a call from LS. I was informed that my bracelet had been found!
Back at the restaurant I was given my bracelet. I immediately noticed something odd about it. All of my three bracelets I wear together are in a very distinct flattened oval shape. However the one being handed back to me had been shaped back to a near perfect circle. This would take a bit of time to pull it back into a circular shape as it requires a bit of effort with both hands to do so.
Ultimately I’m happy that my bracelet was found. However. I feel that based on where I was sitting it would have been easily found during cleanup the night it was lost. I also don’t understand why on the phone. I was told that they would cooperate with the police, and allow them to see the cameras. Yet after an officer arrived they revoked this courtesy.
I’m hoping that the owners of this restaurant not only see this. But also contact me. My family, and I have been long time patrons. We’ve always enjoyed our experience but this one just...
Read moreMe and my wife arrived for dinner and at the front door it said please be patient with our weight staff but knowing that we'd had great service in the past as my family had been going there for the last 3 generations, of course we chose to come in for dinner. After 15 minutes waiting our waitress she finally showed up to ask if we would like a drink or any appetizers of which we said yes and placed our order. 45 minutes later we received them she then took our dinner order after which we did not see her for another half hour nor did we see our waitress again after our dinner came to our table. However our waitress did a fantastic job of serving her friends who arrived which she greeted with hugs and exemplerary service while me and my wife as well as other patrons waited for any type of service whatsoever. Me and my wife which were celebrating our 30th anniversary paid our $235 bill for our steak and lobster which were sub par at best and left without being "those crazy people"who throw a fit for a free meal. I felt it was relevent to reach out to the store manager whose name was Sergio in reference to our shock over the poor service we received since me and my wife have both been in the retail busineess. Sergio answered the phone and after hearing what I had to say about the experience placed me on hold while he said he was speaking to the "General Manager"whom he chose not to identify. Two people answered the phone during the long hold neither of which was Sergio. Finally a third person answered and said let me get him for you. Sergio then came on the phone and gave me a patronizing answer that the General manager has chosen to have a meeting to discuss the poor quality of service but he himself did not choose to answer the phone or speak to us. We were not looking for a free handout but actually were reaching out to make upper management aware of the poor quality of service we received as it was completely out of the norm for all of the times me and my familly had been coming there over the last 25 yrs. I am shocked but after seeing how upper management reacted with the text book "out of the box" answer. I now believe I understand why the service staff is allowed to treat their patrons the way they do. Draw your own conclusions from this review and I welcome upper management reaching out to actually discuss...
Read moreDO NOT VISIT THIS RESTAURANT! I walked from the TA truck stop, 1.5 mi 3 mi round trip, because it was recommended as a very good place to dine. I walked around the building from the access road by the back of the house. Some staff members were out back and I asked how's the food and what would you recommend? A young man said everything is delicious I'm the cook. I continue to walk around the building and enter the front where two people were standing. I asked can you eat at the bar? A young lady said yeah it's around the corner and pointed the direction I was to go. As I started that way she directed me and went back to this hostess station as I proceeded to pick a table, no chairs at the bar. Then one of the two hostesses brought me a drink menu then went back and got me a dinner menu and silverware. She apparently told the bartender that I was dining in, some minutes later the bartender asked me what I would like to drink. I ordered the large 32 oz Michelob ultra and a water, some minutes later I received the water and was told that he had to change the keg. He shortly brought the the beer. It was warm beer and a warm mug? I took two swallows, went to the bar paid $8 and left. In summary, it was worst dining experience that I almost had. The cook outside couldn't recommend any dish the hostess didn't care if I came in, the bartender was annoyed that I was even there, in other words I felt like if I had to order food somebody may have spit on it. The server at the subway at the TA was more engaging and polite than any person I met at that restaurant. Why would I spend $30 on a 12 oz ribeye which gave me beans and coleslaw or charge me extra for a real vegetable or salad. When I asked the bartender about an appetizer on the menu he couldn't even sell me that without a so-so attitude, or have the inability to describe the order, or even make it sound appetizing. I make it a point to stop at The Big Texan restaurant in Amarillo Texas every time I go through there because they have the best steak in Texas and good service with engaging people. Oh, and a further note, as I walked back to my truck I noticed you had more people in their cars outside than I saw staff inside? I was so looking forward to a decent meal, but I would not risk eating in an "up scale" establishment that doesn't understand the basics of...
