Great experience with my mom and I. Bryan and John were very nice and energetic. I called the day before and asked about any openings and Brian was able to squeeze us in on the morning 9am kayak trip. I will say you have to be fairly fit to do this tour. Im a very active person and am 4 months pregnant and it was definitely a work out (not for the faint of heart). My mom is also very active and was able to keep up. If you are planning on going, make sure youâre prepared to paddle a lot especially if there are dolphin sitings which we were lucky enough to see. Our group was about 30 or more dolphins that kept coming in pods after pods. Even saw some baby dolphins. John, our guide, was excited too and you can tell he enjoys what he does. Bryan was the scout on shore during the dolphins and letting us know where to paddle. Of course the dolphins were the highlight, but we saw osprey, herons, plenty of fish jumping, pelicans, and more sea birds. It was truly a fun experience and being that close to wildlife in a kayak, not a motorized boat, made the difference. Highly recommend sunscreen, water shoes, a sun hat to shade your face, water and snacks are okay to bring, and they also carry a dry sack for car keys,...
Read moreWe went on this adventure on Sunday, August 9th. I was visiting my brother from Vegas and told him I wanted to kayak. Luckily we came across kayaking with a dolphin. I was in Virginia for 10 days total and this adventure was our last of an amazing week. Brian was insanely professional and he seriously remembered everyoneâs names the entire time we were with him.Definitely make sure you are in shape because you will get a good workout!!! We were huffing it pretty hard on some parts of the tour because Brian was trying to follow the dolphins. Unfortunately, my partner that was with me wasnât helping too much with the paddling and if there werenât people around I wouldâve knocked him off the kayak(J/k) This was definitely worth the money and in my opinion Brian could charge much more.If you go on this adventure make sure to tip your tour guide! A lot of effort is put in to make this an educational and exciting experience!!!! This was so b much fun and I would definitely recommend it!!!! Thanks, Bryan!!!!!! Tobee,...
Read moreWe had an amazing time with GoKayak! They gave us all the info ahead of time, were very flexible and organized in the planning process. When we actually got there, they were great about coaching me on how to kayak. We got to see dolphins up close and overall had a really fun morning. I researched heavily the kayak tours all over the state of VA and ultimately chose GoKayak because of their professionalism and great customer service! I would absolutely go again and canât wait to do so!
Some tips for the new kayaker researching tour options: -you will probably get wet, so bring a change of clothes just in case. Where we were (Broad Bay), there was a bathroom in the parking lot that has stalls and was a clean place to change. -Bring shoes you donât mind walking in the water with. You have to walk into the water to get into the kayak. -We went in the beginning of April and even though it was a tad chilly outside, once I started kayaking I was glad I wasnât wearing a jacket. Kayaking is an upper body workout for a...
