I can't say enough good things about Captain Chris and VB Backwater! He was referred to me and I'm so glad I reached out. We wanted to set up a charter trip for our son's birthday who recently took an interest in fly fishing. Captain Chris not only offered an amazing package for his charter but also offered his expertise on which rod and reel to purchase for him and where we could find the equipment, etc! Our son was thrilled to receive the rod and reel as a gift and the charter was the show stopper! After some lessons on shore, dad and son set out to fly fish the dock lights. They went on to catch lots of trout and drum, coupled with good laughs and great company! We couldn't have asked for a better gift. Captain Chris was friendly, prepared, and happy to share his knowledge about fishing and patient with me when I was shaking the rust off my fly casting. He had some great pointers to help smooth out my cast before we got into fish. He put me on several good shots at redfish, I blew a few shots and had multiple hookups.

After stalking the creeks we switched to conventional gear and got after the speckled trout. We landed a few nice ones including a nice gator.

We recently took a night trip with Chris in search of Redfish. On top of being extremely knowledgeable about the waterways and the fish that reside in them, he’ll also give you an awesome tour of the houses that sit on the banks of the inlet.

Chris is one of the most genuine people I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with and knows exactly how to get you on top of fish. If we ever find ourselves back in the area, we’re definitely going to call him for another trip.

Most importantly , the man knows how to tie a good knot.
