I decided to book the “Neptune Ghosts Haunted Walking Tour” for something to do one night while on vacation. I needed an activity to keep the girls active and off their phones for an evening, they are 14. I knew they would either have fun, or they would think that it was boring. They were excited to go when I told them about it and after reading the reviews, we were hopeful. Not once did they complain. Not once did they tell me they were bored. Not once did they look for their phones. Not once were they talking back and forth to each other and not listening. After the tour, the first thing they told me “Wow! That was really interesting and a lot of fun!” The girls had a great time, and they can be tough to please. The stories were interesting, and kept their attention the whole time.

Our tour guide, Justin, was absolutely fantastic! We could have listened to him for hours. Justin seems very knowledgeable and is passionate about the history of Virginia Beach, and surrounding areas. He was quick to answer questions when asked. I’d say this would be appropriate for anyone ages 7/8 to 88 - as long as you can handle the walking and standing for the night, you will be good.

As far as a ghost tour, it is not scary. That being said, if you are looking for scary, you will want to find a different activity. My husband and I are in Virginia Beach celebrating our 11-year anniversary and were looking for something fun and unique to do, this ghost tour ended up being the perfect choice! We were running late trying to get tickets, but the company itself was incredibly accommodating and made sure we could still join the tour, which we truly appreciated.

Our guide, Rin, was actually leading her very first tour, and she did an outstanding job! Even though it was cold and windy along the boardwalk, she used the atmosphere to her advantage, making the whole experience feel even more eerie and immersive. Her storytelling ability was impressive, great tone, natural cadence, perfect volume, and just the right amount of excitement to pull everyone in.

Rin was charming, funny, and honestly adorable. You could tell she genuinely enjoyed sharing the stories, and her enthusiasm made the night even more memorable. We loved how she balanced the spooky history with humor and personality, turning the tour into something both entertaining and engaging.

⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 out of 5 stars) Disappointing Experience – Not What We Expected

We attended the 8:00 p.m. Neptune Ghost Tour in Virginia Beach tonight and were really looking forward to it after reading all the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.

Because of the large turnout, we were split into two groups. My group was led by a woman named Jane (I believe that was her name), an older lady who was kind and polite, but sadly not a strong storyteller. Her delivery was scattered and hard to follow, which made it difficult to stay engaged.

What made things worse was that she appeared to be drinking from a small bottle she pulled out of her coat during the tour. After that, she completely lost her train of thought, couldn’t keep her headset in place, and started rambling incoherently. It became uncomfortable to watch, and at least eight people (including us) quietly walked away mid-tour because it was just that bad.

I truly wanted to enjoy this experience—I love history, ghost stories, and paranormal tours—but this was not worth the time or money. I’m hoping this was just an isolated incident, but based on tonight’s experience, I sadly can’t...
