R-N Market — Local services in Visalia

My family has been shopping at RN forever. I think RN has the best, largest selection of Asian groceries in town. They have alot of different types of seafoods- fresh, dried, fermented..you name it. So much healthy food and the prices are lower than I've ever seen in town. Rare Asian ingredients and also Mexican products can be found here, as well as a great selection of fresh produce, fresh bakery breads and sweets, a GENEROUS hot deli, a big selection of meats (including organ meats and parts rarely seen in most markets) and a fantastic wall of beverages- ALL at great low prices. The ONLY thing I don't like about this exceptional store is the (women's) bathroom. Bring your own toilet paper and paper towels, and a friend to guard the (only 1 stall!) bathroom door, if youre headed into the ladies room. For all things OTHER than the restroom, I give RN Market a shining 5 stars. Drop by. But it's busy so I'd go before 9 a.m. and...

The store is run down, needs a good cleaning, especially the floors and ceilings. There is an incredible amount of filth on both.

The employees are friendly, and helpfully.

The location is off the beaten path for non-Visalia residents. The parking lot is congested, and no loading dock for deliveries.

The shopping carts are battered but functional.

Selection: No longer need to search Amazon for exotic/international products. Specifically the oriental offering. For months I searched for Soy Paste and black vinegar. RN had both.

Their assortment of fresh mushrooms is better than Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and Sprouts.

Prices are incredibly high for some products. A bottle if mayo shouldn't cost $9.00.

For those on EBT, your monthly allowance won't go far here. One reason why walmart has dominated the grocery store wars.

Overall, very happy....

All kinds of Asian ethnic foods, with a healthy chunk of Mexican products. Since I'm from L. A., it's going to be a little bit sparse compared to the variety available in the San Gabriel Valley, but I've been shopping here for over a decade, and it's only very occasionally that I'm unable to find a specific ingredient that I need. It's usually that they don't stock a particular I prefer -- or grew up with.

Grocery prices are generally quite reasonable, and I have never had an unfriendly checker. On the other hand, the ladies running the deli can be a bit gruff at times. I talk with a smile and it might loosen them up once in a while. A challenge. The hot lunch and dinners are passable to good. I have yet to find any deli item that I wouldn't order again. Deli...
