Pros: Passionate professors. Seriously, each of these professors are well skilled and educated in their field (MCC requires 3 years of working experience) Encouraging- MCC professors are open to their students for advice about their own degree (I'm a Poli Sci major, my government professors has been more than happy on many occasions to ask about my goals, ambitions and advise me on what to do) Fairly new buildings mixed with older buildings, I can't tell if MCC was once a college then to a community college or if MCC is attempting to become a 4 year institution.
University Center! If you don't want to move to Lubbock, Stephenville or Brownsville use their university center to stay in Waco but receive a degree from a 4 yr school. Texas Techs billboards around town "Guns up, debt down!" AWESOME. Proud TTU Alumni because of their waco site! Easy access to create course schedules and easily reachable guidance.
CONS: Parking SUCKS here, I mean S U C K S. The school needs to take down the yield signs and install stop signs since these traditional college students believe that their yield sign means the rest of the world yields to them. Parking is a mess, MCC has grown beyond it's infrastructure and cannot handle the parking needs of their students. Shuttle: I wish the shuttle had a set route, sometimes if your lucky you'll catch one. The staff that drives the shuttles are really nice though. Higher One Bank for financial aid refunds, complete nightmare to deal with. Seriously. Stop outsourcing your student's money because it is one less thing for you all to deal with.
Student Advisors: The only con I have is that unless you want to use their university center or transfer to Baylor, A&M or UT you are on your own with knowing what classes you need to transfer to...

This campus has violated the rights of a disabled veteran tenured professor, Casey Hubble, who is now suing the university and police department when he was trying to gain access to a handicapped parking spot and his path was blocked by an officer who parked in the middle of the road so he couldn't pass. Irritated, he asked her to move and then told the man she was pulling over (who committed no crime and was let go) if he needed a witness. He was then arrested a week later in the campus stairwell in front of students, thrown in a cell for over 24 hours with 30+ violent convicts (and was refused access to his medication and walking stick) and HAD HIS TENURE STRIPPED as a result. He's going to annihilate this Orwellian administration and get a MASSIVE payday.
The president, an inbred-looking white woman named Dr. Johnette McKown has knowingly violated this professor's rights and is going to likely step down from her job.
Don't go to this college if you value ANY of your legal...
Read moreI went with a friend inquiring information about classes that are starting very soon. After multiple times reaching out to the advising office attempting resolve this dilemma via phone & email I was instructed to come to the advising building before close. Close is in two hours (6 o’clock) & when i arrived w/ my dilemma hoping to be resolved I was ignored for around five minutes until one of the advising receptionist’s children let them know “hey, someone is here”… I was then told to come back @ 8am the next day… when, again, it closed in multiple hours from when I got there…
After being told the degree plan I was pursuing was the right one, which it wasn’t, I simply wanted efficient feedback in order to keep my life’s passions in order & I’m not wasting my money… While having an already busy day-to-day from balancing work, school, & life I wasted time & money trying to resolve an issue I was told could be resolvable…
