Firstly, let me say this "gentleman" Najat needs some training in customer service. Very, very difficult to deal with and just a bad overall experience. I have never been treated like that before. I was shocked almost as if I was doing him a favor.
I found Audio Technology on a search to see if I can get two vintage 70's Pioneer receivers serviced as the guy that normally services these for me was backed up until March. One was not working and I suspected had some real problems, and the other was working but I thought might make sense to replace the large power caps and give it a once over on the electronic components that go bad over time (resistors/transistors/capacitors), as I was planning to sell it and had no history on it. He did tell me it would be $55/unit to assess which I agreed and that he would basically credit me back if he did the work. I am sure that gets incorporated into the final price anyway.
Seemed like a struggle right from the beginning to deal with him. After looking at the first until, he wanted to charge me nearly $400 to repair the one not working and $165 to "clean up" the other. All through the process he continued to remind me that nothing was guaranteed and that he has 40 years of experience with vintage stereo equipment. As I spoke to him on the phone he sounded annoyed to have to tell me what was being done and what I was paying for. I also wanted the bulbs replaced to LED’s (which I had already purchased) which he ended up fighting me on as well implying I was stupid to want that as they were working. As the unit was open and LED’s essentially last forever it’s a good idea to replace as I have had done on other units. Prior to picking it up I asked if I could test it and he said and I quote " ..that receiver was made back in 1976 I do not guarantee anything on a unit that old. I just put it back in it’s box, you’re welcome to take it out and test it when you come here. Its took over 2 hr’s to do a cleaning job on it. "
He ended up giving me a receipt after asking several times, which was illegible and again told me he doesn't guarantee anything and continued to be condescending and argue with me about the work that was done and how many hours it took. I didn't pay by the hour but by the price he quoted me for the job . Wow.
I see he repairs keyboards and guitars as well so perhaps you are safe there if you can deal with the attitude and the nonsense. I would NOT recommend him for any vintage stereo equipment. Funny enough there was also a Pioneer SX838 sitting there in which he said the owner asked him to look at and he never heard back. I suspect that "customer" got the same treatment. He did not end up charging me the $55 on the first unit he looked at. Maybe he felt bad about his behavior? The only saving grace of the whole experience. ...

This man has a terrible attitude.
He asked me what was going to be repaired. I explained the situation with the tuner and record player.
He starts telling me it's 85 dollars to leave the equipment with him which goes towards the repair which I was fine with and didn't say anything about. Then he proceeded to ask me how old the equipment is, inferring that it's not worth repairing. Still I said nothing. The man started becoming defensive. Stating that he has a lot to do and that people bring stuff to work on and not collect. I again reiterated that I had not said anything in protest and them man again started to explain in a loud and defensive tone. I thank him for his time and packed my stuff and he continued to talk.
I was more than willing to pay the fee, didn't indicate I wouldn't. I was more horrified by this man's lack of idea of what costumer service is.
Would highly NOT recommend. (Go to the one in...

I’ve been friends with Nejat Bakin for a long time and he is an Audio and Electronics expert in the business who has done several jobs for me with outstanding results. One job that stands out is how Nejat took an out of the box outstanding amp (Marshall 2555) and modified it making a custom amp that sounds even better! I understand that you can’t make everyone happy but to give a bogus review is unacceptable and sure many of his clients would agree that Nejat Bakin is the...
