This place is walking distance from my house. The first time I went I was disgusted because the store was dirty and smelly. I noticed that some of the food like bread had expired a few days ago. I still purchased a few groceries. One of the items were watermelon. When I got home and opened the watermelon it was spoiled. I promised never to go again. However, I ended going again today just to purchase bread. Once again, the floors were dirty but I was only getting bread. Some of the bread had expired. I did find some bread that had not yet expired. Once in line, there was a lady waiting for the cashier who was on the phone and writing. It took him five minutes to ring up the customer because he was busy on the phone. She did not receive an apology or anything. Next, it was my turn. There was an issue with my credit card (which I easily used at Walgreens after I left his store). I asked if there was an ATM in the store. He rudely said, "no". While reaching for my other card, he said, "You need to hurry up because I have a line". There was only one other person in line who just walked up. I politely left the bag on the counter and left. I got what I need from Walgreens using the same credit card. I do not know if this guy is rude to just women or what his problem is but I will never go in that store again. Word of advice to the Manager, PLEASE CLEAN YOUR STORE AND GET RID OF EXPIRED FOOD!! More importantly, have some respect for...
Read moreThe owners of Tom's are involved and helpful in the day-to-day operations of the store. They've tried to do improve things by limiting stock that doesn't sell and adding international options that are popular in the community.
Pluses: I typically buy my produce and meat at Tom's as the options and prices are better than Jewel and even rivals Aldi. The bakery is amazing - their cake donuts always get reviews from wherever I take them. Alcohol selection is large at a variety of price points.
Minuses: the products in the center of the store like cereal, soda, canned good, etc are very expensive. There's also not a lot of them and the shelves and cooler cases look bare most of the time as products are only one item deep with space in-between different products. Only one freezer case is currently used. They closed off one aisle of freezers and have signs on the rest saying there are upgrades coming but those have been up awhile.
Tom's Market is a great place for the food that counts - fresh produce and meat. The bakery and wine/beer selection are also places with good...
Read moreI love Tom's on the whole, however this review is specifically about their deli and bakery. First, the deli serves hot food, daily specials and has a dining area. While there today we chose their Chester's Fried Chicken Strips. (Yes, they have bone in too) The chicken was absolutely delicious! All white meat strips of real chicken in a crunchy, batter dipped & deep fried shell! Moist, but not greasy! Just really great chicken!! Now...
The Bakery is just stupid good. They still get up early to make the donuts in house, daily! My go to is their apple fritter, or blueberry..apricot...cherry.. then their glazed cake donut is simply delicious! If you like a great, old fashioned donut...gotta try Tom's!
(The pic is all that remained of four pieces by the time I remembered to take the picture, it...
