Hollydell Ice Arena — Local services in Washington Township

Waitresses we slow and when ordering food (wings), waitress asked if I would like ranch or blue cheese.... then I proceeded to get charged for it. 1) this is the first place I've ever been to where it doesn't come with either or and 2) the waitress made it seem as if it was part of the meal and never told us that it is an extra charge for it, nor was it displayed or disclosed anywhere. Secondly, I also ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the waitress asked which I would like to choose from between fries, chips, or tator tots. I responded with fries....guess what was an additional charge on the bill... fries. Overall food was good and a pleasant atmosphere, however I give it 3 stars because of lack of transparency and how business is conducted. We just had my daughter's 7th birthday party here and it was terrific. All of the kids, most of whom had never skated before, had a blast and wished the party could go longer. Skate time was a generous 1.5 on the ice and then an 1hr for cake and we never once felt rushed. I must say what made the whole experience exceptional aside from the price was Carol. She was so easy and accomodating to work with during both booking and during the event. Carol took care of everything, from set up to break down, serving pizza, cutting and serving the cake and just making the birthday girl feel special. Many of the parents were so impressed with the party they asked for information about booking their own. Even my young son 4yrs old had a great time after Carol assisted in getting him on the ice. Horrible horrible horrible service. The server acts like your not even there, it takes them forever to come over to your table. They must have looked and me and my sister and thought we were 14 (were actually in our late 20s early 30s) and treated us as such. They ID us for drinks and insisted it wasn't us even after we showed them a credit card with our names? I'm there to watch my 8 year old play hockey, trust me I'm of age. they took it upon themselves to split our check when no one asked or gave them the slightest clue we wanted that done. Not only that but our order was wrong and we had to send back the ice cold dip. needless to say they need better management and servers. Its a shame because the rink is beautiful and the foods good but cocky ignorant and down right lazy servers will...
