My family and I have been coming to Terra Nova frequently for the past few years, and had our first bad experience tonight. Although it is pricey, we have always felt as though we have gotten our moneys worth. However, tonight we went to Terra Nova to celebrate my college graduation and it was the worst experience ever. I ordered two sushi rolls, one being $15 and the other being $16. When our food arrived at the table, the rolls were half the size they normally are. My parents and I noticed it immediately and asked if this was the normal size of the sushi rolls. Normally, one piece of shrimp tempura was a nice size, a little smaller than the soy sauce dish, and was a total of 6 pieces. However, the rolls I received were so short and small, I cant believe they were even delivered to the table. There were also only 6 pieces as well. Smaller pieces would have been understandable if there were more than 6, since 6 seemed like the standard amount of pieces per roll. We asked to speak to the manager, and the manager Joanna who came to speak to us barely glanced at the sushi. She stood on the other side of the table and did not bother to ask to see a piece of the roll. We asked her if it is the NEW normal size sushi roll and she avoided the question, explaining that they have a new sushi chef. We asked the question again, and she said its the size they have ALWAYS been. We know that is not true, because I have pictures from past visits (one from about three months ago) of the same sushi rolls. We were not asking for her to replace the rolls or take the charge off of the final bill, but that was not even offered to us. All she told us was that she would pass the message onto the owner before leaving us to eat. Extremely disappointing since we have been coming here for years and never experienced rolls this small, or customer service this bad (not including our waitress, who was very understanding and kind about the situation). I added a picture of a piece of sushi next to a fork AND soy sauce dish for size comparison. You can even see that compared to pictures from other reviews, these rolls are small and do not compare. I want to add that we are not a family that complains, as I have never seen my parents ask for a manager in my life. If this was during happy hour and rolls were half price then I understand, but $15/$16 per roll for bite...

This was my first resteraunt in my journey to explore South Jersey's fine-dining/high-end scene.

Let me start off by saying, the service via phone was extremely noteworthy. I had made a reservation, moved it then later cancelled it in the same day with no hassle. That had already started to give me a good impression.

Walking into the resteraunt were quickly seated and our server, Cierra, kindly took our order and was very friendly the whole night. The resteraunt was also very clean, as so were the bathrooms. I had joked with Cierra about how expensive the prices were and another customer's strange concern about how the fish was, literally, "too fishy". The fly that was in my napkin took some cleanliness points away.

My one complaint about the atmosphere really is all of the employees always present on the floor on the POS systems. Walking to the bathroom it felt crowded.

Looking at the menu, some of the prices were ridiculously unreasonable. 11 dollars for some legume? 15 for mac and cheese? None of the apps looked good at all. There are much better and less expensive choices in my opinion. Ultimately though my meal, the Tuscan Stew, was extremely wonderful! It was a more than generous portion and a creative dish. I took half home. My mother got the Chicken Terra Nova, which she enjoyed.

Unfortunately, my soup was subpar along with the serving of ice cream. In fact, I would a bit embarrassed to serve such a small amount of ice cream and put two spoons on it. (The second spoon isn't picture; it had been dirty.) Our server was nice enough to have the servers grill the bread, but it was also disappointing. (Food pictured.)

Originally I gave a strong review of this place but after some reflection and visiting other restauraunts in the area, I ultimately won't be returning. There are better experiences for more reasonable prices and better food.

I ordered the braised short ribs with risotto for a party,on 12/18/22 I was very hesitant in ordering salmon stuff crab meat because of the fact 98% of the time it comes out dried out for a party, especially if you have an (unexperienced chef working in the back.) Well this is an understatement .

Lobster bisque No Lobster meat, not even a speck of meat. Pretty much Lobster base with heavy cream, what happened to the stock that a chef would make up... you know the lobster Parts the shells carrots, shallot, Brandy ect....

Caesar salad it must have been sitting on the table for about an hour because of the fact it was mush. And wait staff still Served it to the party.

I ordered braised short ribs over risotto. Big mistake risotto is undercooked the flavors were off and sour in the risotto, I ordered risotto not soup!

Braised short rib!! Where's the beef!!! I really don't think it was 4 to 5 oz portion, Since when do you take a piece of short rib and slice it in the small strips, it looked like sorry to say this bottom round beef.

Stuffed salmon with crab meat Like I said 98% of the stuff salmon was dried out.... Chef You could have a put a lemon wine butter sauce over it to keep it moist.

Or better yet you could have cooked it fresh before it went out like it should have been. This is called an incompetent Chef that does not know what he's doing ...and dose not care about the money that people Forked out..

I could come over and teach your Chef how to make a true risotto and a true short ribs. And nice moist piece of salmon with jumbo lump crab meat in it But I think I embarrassed him enough already.

PS we did not get our coffee till after we ate half of our dessert

The only thing that was good was my drink coodles to the bartender because she knew how to make a true martini.

What happened to...

Terranova is a beautiful restaurant with a very professional staff and honestly amazing food. They have a beautiful room as you enter on the right for small private events or parties. In the back, they also have a sports bar area, which was very lively the night we were there. To the left as you enter there’s a large indoor seating area for eating dinner and I think they even have an outdoor space as well. The restaurant is what you would expect for a clean, well decorated, and what will impress you the most is the professionalism of the staff. Immediately it’s obvious that they put a lot of time into training their waiters and waitresses who are very polite, professional, kind, and knowledgeable of the menu. Are salad and side orders came out within a few minutes, and it was quickly followed by our main course. The food is very well presented. It’s obvious that the details matter and this restaurant but also there’s a casual vibe so it’s a great place to come in just to be yourself but also to enjoy an elevated experience in style and food. I personally have been coming to this restaurant more than 25 years. I’ve experienced my own pre-wedding dinner party and over the years many wonderful meals with friends and family. Definitely has a nice family atmosphere with all age groups. There’s plenty of free parking and if you’re bringing someone for the first time, they will definitely love this place. Highly recommend anyone who loves Italian food but also they have things like sushi on the menu and I can tell you if their sushi is amazing. My most recent visit was to celebrate my third wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful time and a delicious meal.
