It's a quaint place to go for outlet grocery items. They've HAD some bargain prices in the past on some things, but recent years it's been EXTREMELY hit and miss. We see they must have similar connections to same suppliers as we see at other outlet places (and we travel around a WIDE area from time to time and get to a lot of different outlets), as we notice A LOT of the exact same strange brands and types of things. Unfortunately they don't price things to move like we see at other places (and sometimes they REALLY need to move some extremely dated product). For example we've seen some product they've priced at $2.50 or $3 and another thing at $8, but at other places a distance away they priced them at 99¢ for the first one and $1.99 for the other. So essentially they can be WAY off in their pricing. Plus you REALLY have to watch what you pick up in any produce. Produce can sometimes (more often than not) be short lived once you get it home. Potatoes twice went mushy and produced maggots within a couple days (and they should be much longer lasting). Plus they sometimes try to sell moldy produce, which should be instantly removed or picked out before shown to the public.
Update since original review: still the same issues with pricing, and fresh product quality. They updated their register ring out to easily scan, but a number still lack the ability to do it quickly by ringing up and immediately bagging. Instead they try and ring up a whole bunch of things and then take several extra...
Read moreMy daughter and I were excited to check this store out after hearing about it. We were extremely disappointed once we got there. The staff was unfriendly, many of the boxed items were past-date, and there was visible mold on some produce. My daughter (helpfully, not accusingly) pointed out some especially gross-looking strawberries to a worker so they could get them off the sales floor (which information most stores would be grateful for), but the woman was unfriendly and didn’t seem to care what the produce looked like anyway.
The bananas were ALL grey, which means they were cold-damaged, and they weren’t even a good price. The cukes were a good price, but I was afraid to buy them, with all the other produce looking so un-fresh!
We ended up buying a couple small items that were good deals, but not much.
When we checked out, the cashiers gave us insincere “have a nice day”s, without smiles. We are used to much better service at the Schnecksville and Fogelsville Weis stores, and I would normally expect a local small business to be even more friendly. We don’t know how this place stays in business.
On the positive side, I did notice some good deals on live plants outside, and they were healthy. That’s why I gave 2 stars...
Read moreThey have a stone parking lot, with a wonky ramp with a rug on it and an outswing door. This is very difficult to manage if you have any mobility issues. It's hard to push a cart in stone, it's hard to walk with a cane or use a wheelchair on the ramp and even more difficult to open the door with a cart or wheelchair. They should fix this issue it's not safe. That being said the store is well organized and you can find some wonderful bargains if you pick through their stock. They have a nice deli selection with good prices on meat's and cheese's, they make hoagies and sell fresh rolls and bags of cheese and meat ends. Plenty of soon to expire fruits and vegetables you must be selective as they are drastically reduced for this reason. Good frozen food selection of TV dinners, ice cream cones, cakes, chicken, appetizers, breakfast sandwiches. Cookies, crackers, chips, coffee, cereal, baking supplies, random house hold goods. All and all a good place to find...
