If you are disabled this is for you. These people don’t want our money. I went to the Slatington Market today. It’s well lit and clean, I thought I might have found a gem with great antiques. That was until I was approached by a woman I can only describe, (I should state upfront, this entire encounter is because of how I look) as being dressed like Little-Bo-peep, who very mater of fact informed me that pets aren’t allowed in the antique store, I simply asked if my service dog looked like a pet, she looked confused, I rephrased, what about her vest says pet? Then I prompted her to read it. Of the 6 visible patches the 4 largest of which specifically say service dog, she looks at my dog reads 1 of the 2 the smallest patches on her vest that don’t say service dog, and reads “embrace the suck.” Well i got upset. Either you probably shouldn’t be unsupervised, or you’re just trying to insult my intelligence, which is where we loop back to she judged me by my looks. She had no idea my dog was vested, she didn’t take 3 seconds to read the vest before she spoke. I am 200# of tattooed and breaded mess. She saw the big guy with his dog and never thought I might be disabled. She never bothered to ask. She did not care. When I asked in the office they were not helpful pointed out that it does say embrace the suck, and they left it at that. No apologies no nothing. So if you’re disabled do yourself a favor shop elsewhere. We...
Read moreWe visited the Slatington Marketplace today but we won't be back because of an incredibly rude staff member. We were making our way to the register at 5:58, they close at 6, the woman approached us, appalled that we were still there. She said, "We are closed." I told her we were going to check out. She said, "The registers are closed." I said, "It's 5:58. You close at 6. I have cash." She snapped, "We leave at 6!" Then another woman, possibly a manager, told her to check us out and she was not happy about that. Apparently, the registers were not closed after all. I gave her exact change.
There were 3 other items we were going to purchase but didn't due to her attitude. It would've taken us a couple of minutes to gather those items but she might have had a stroke. I feel badly for the vendors who miss out on sales because of her rudeness. I'm sure we're not the first ones to experience this.
We've driven over 3,000 miles, antiquing all the way, and this was the only negative experience we've had. I would've given this place a better review if it weren't for her. I hope the business owner takes this seriously.
I would, however, highly recommend checking out Beautiful Hidden Treasures on Bankway in Lehighton, 15 minutes away. The owners were incredibly kind and respectful. We will definitely go back there if we pass...
Read moreI love this indoor flea market I go at least twice a year never leave empty handed but I'm not a fan of the unfriendly staff. Every time I go without fail if its 20 minutes before closing they will rudely yell across the room just to tell you they will be closing their registers. They will also tail you & take whatever you're holding just to rush you out the door they did this too me recently. The one staff member that was wrapping my items under her breath said too the other employee checking me out said "we still have someone else whos still looking around" well than why rush me when theres another person ? I just think its very unprofessional how they treat their customers I understand they wanna go home it is hot in there all the time too but 20 minutes is a not long I'll start in the back to make my way too the front. So I'm not going backwards I even do that when grocery shopping haha I understand they don't know that but its not right that they do...
