Oxon Run Pool — Local services in Washington

This pool and it’s staff exceeded my expectations! First off, the pool is probably one of the cleanest pools I have ever been in and even more noteworthy as an outdoor pool. The staff being mostly young and African-American were some of the best lifeguards I’ve seen. They take their job seriously and we’re very attentive to all the people in the pool, yet they still knew how to have fun-my kind of folks! The swim instructor Wolf was super amazing, my kids absolutely loved and respected him as an instructor and they really learned how to swim, especially one of my kids, who came in afraid to put his head underwater. The only improvement this facility needs to make, is to have the deep end open. I went for one week, and only once wasn’t open, and I was told it was due to it being understaffed, but I saw enough lifeguards there who could’ve sat in that section of the pool. This was a really nice place. The neighborhood has a bad reputation for violence. I was pleasantly surprised. The day was excellent. My son's friends birthday. He helped prepare the food. We were under the trees. The children really enjoyed the pool. We were under the gazebo. I was so happy that everything turned out right. DC has had a lot of press because of violence. This was in SE and we didn't even hear so much as a speeding car. There are some nice places in Ward 8 for entertainment and family outings. Give it a chance. Everyone can't live...

I was discriminated against at the pool today 6/20/2018 the manager screaming my name in front of everybody Sir , excuse me , excuse me Sir few times and I was able to realize he was talking to me , never came to me with respect to speak to me , he says you can’t get in with that pant on , I saw Neighor s drop there kids and I have came there so many time, the pant he is referring to it is a elastic short pant it can turn to a pant, I understand as Father we have a long way to go , I hope we get better...
