I want to preface this by saying that this is not directed at any of the estheticians or services provided by the spa, but rather at the receptionist and her inability to effectively communicate with clients.
My friend booked appointments for her and I this afternoon (July 1). My friend booked a Brazilian wax for herself and facials for both of us. My friend got her nose pierced a few weeks ago and realized that it was still healing, so she called a couple of days before the appointment to cancel her facial service, but kept her wax service and my facial service. She called during normal operating hours, but was sent straight to voicemail. She left a message and received a call back sometime later with a message stating that the facial cancellation was fine and that she could receive a massage instead if she wished. She tried to call back, but was unsuccessful and assumed everything was good to go.
My friend and I drove separately and she arrived first at the spa. We both do not live in Waterbury and were unaware of possible construction around the spa. Because of this, she was two minutes late to her appointment. When she checked in, the receptionist (who I believe was named Danielle) was extremely rude and told her she should have been aware of construction. My friend apologized, feeling uncomfortable, and went in for her wax.
I came in a few minutes later and was informed by the esthetician that there had been some miscommunication with the receptionist and my facial appointment had been cancelled. This had not been mentioned to my friend when she checked in. Having driven 45 minutes to Waterbury, I was a little upset, but the esthetician was very nice and apologetic about it. I sat down and waited for my friend to get out of her wax appointment.
While I was waiting, the receptionist walked into the spa. Her attitude towards me was very rude and unprofessional. She lectured me about the cancellation policy and blamed my friend for the miscommunication, saying that it was her fault that the facials were cancelled. It felt extremely petty and uncalled for.
My friend walked out of the appointment room and the receptionist started lecturing her again, blaming her for not calling back and being unclear about the services. My friend replied that she had tried to call back and was unsuccessful, even though it was during operating hours, and that the message left by the receptionist did not state that both facials were going to be cancelled. The receptionist then offered to book us facials on Saturday, but we declined. She then excused herself from the spa space.
Needless to say, the whole interaction left my friend and I upset and offended. The poor communication and unprofessional conduct by the receptionist left us both feeling unwelcome. Clearly, this is not...

Our third therapist was Kelsey who is more tailored to a relaxing/soothing massage. She is not deep tissue. She does not use oil at all, she likes to keep a cooler room and there was no heated pad : ( sorry...
Read moreWish I could give 6-stars! I have now been to BHAV a few times and have yet to be disappointed in any way. Staff is more than friendly and and the inside of the spa is beautiful and clean. I have been to several highly rated spas both in VT and in NY and can say BHAV is up there with the best. My first visit I had Danielle for the Best of Both Worlds and she was great! More recently, I had Colleen for a deep tissue who was friendly, had a relaxing demeanor, and was very strong (an obviously essential part of the deep tissue)! She used the perfect amount of deep pulsing moves as well as long strides with hard pressure. Best of all, she was detail oriented with every area she was working on. Safe to say I’ll be...
