Cake makes it better. I love parties. Big ones, filled with balloons and games and favors, and Pinterest-inspired themes. I especially love planning these kinds of parties for my kids, inviting all of our family and friends to join in celebrating their birthdays each year. Parties bring people together. Then came a pandemic, a year with no big parties. But cake makes it better, specifically cakes from Red Poppy Cakery, which are made with care and attention. Red Poppy Cakery allows us to celebrate the little events in big ways, and big events in little ways, both which are needed during a pandemic. For my kid’s birthdays in 2021, when normally we would have had large gatherings, we couldn’t celebrate with our loved ones, but Red Poppy Cakery allowed us to make small themed cakes with matching cupcakes. Janina portioned the cupcakes out into small boxes, and for my kid’s birthdays we dropped off cupcake deliveries on the porch of our loved ones. So even though we couldn’t celebrate the birthdays together, we could all celebrate separately, which brought us all closer together. I highly recommend Red Poppy Cakery for events large and small (I've hired them for corporate events and numerous birthday parties and special occasions). They are always able to accommodate numerous dietary needs, including gluten-free and vegan, without sacrifice flavor or quality. The attention to detail, perfectly balanced flavors, and creative decorating that Janina brings to all of her cakes will make your celebration better, no matter the size.

These were friendly people and delivered my wedding cake on time to the business next door for me to pick up on the weekend of my wedding. BUT When I was doing my consultation for my wedding cake and showed them the reference picture attached they said they would have no problem making this. They had over 3 weeks to get this done. The product delivered FOR MY WEDDING is the smudged abomination attached to this review. They had the opportunity to tell me they could not deliver what I wanted but did not. They had the opportunity and time to learn how to deliver the product and style I ordered but did not. They had time and opportunity to send me pictures and ask if there needed to be adjustments but they did not. They delivered a finished product as a “wedding cake” that was unrefined and amateurish. My family described this as “the ugliest cake I have ever seen” had to scrape off the smudges and salvage it into something completely different. Whoever made this should be fired. Whoever approved this for delivery should be fired. If the owner saw this product and approved this for delivery they should reevaluate your business model. You should be ashamed that you pushed out this half baked cake to a customer.

Will absolutely be a repeat customer! Contacted Janina in advance of my daughter’s birthday party to get a small cupcake order for some guests with dietary restrictions. She was incredibly communicative via email and very gracious about all of my last-minute questions lol (Mom Brain in full effect). The cupcakes were decorated with a Toy Story theme to match the overall theme of the party, and were so adorable on the table next to the other dessert choices. Probably the best feedback that I can give personally is that I could not tell the difference between those vegan and gluten-free cupcakes and the cake that I made out of regular flour, eggs, and butter. I love to bake and I am pretty picky about baked goods that I get from anyone that isn’t me… her cupcakes not only looked incredible but they tasted incredible and I was proud to offer them to the guests that needed dietary accommodations so they didn’t feel left out. The (gluten free) mom of one of my daughter’s friends actually exclaimed that she “never gets to eat dessert at these things,” and was so happy to have a delicious dessert. Five stars isn’t enough!
