First I'd like to thank Joe and the others at Tail end Vet Care that I didnt get their names. I had reached out to Tail End Vet Care to have my 19 yr old Lab, Bentley, put to rest. He was no longer able to get up, which happened suddenly, and we knew it was time. I'd contacted the vet I'd been using and they first said they'd call me back and didnt, I called them back. I'd already, through tears, told them what was going on, they put me on hold then informed me that it would be the next day before I could get in and that the Dr. would do an exam to make sure my decision was right and on top of that I'd have to do paperwork and be a "new patient." I'd had 2 other dogs put to rest there, I'd kenneled 3 there when my folks died, I'd had the dogs shots there, etc. in no way was I new. Anyway, I then contacted Tail End Vet Care, late because I'd wasted time with the other place. Joe was so kind when I called. He told me hed call me back, he needed to talk to the DR. Not 5 minutes passed and Joe called me. He had me an appt for 9:15 off next morning. I was relieved. Joe asked about Bentley, I was able to comfort Bentley through the night and Tail End Vet Care met us as soon as we got there. They were kind, had us a private room ready, gave us all the time we needed and took amazing care of helping Bentley pass on peacefully as I laid with him, thanking him for 19 years. I'm crying now just telling you. Thst place and the staff are amazing. I'm taking my other 2 there for all their needs. And the other place, no thanks. Oh and the cost, Joe's team charged us one flat fee. The other of course wanted exam fee, took his weight into price and acted just put out with me. Tail End Vet Care, never even came up. They gave me price over phone, never mentioned again until we were leaving at the front desk.. she was also very kind and gave us care. Thanks Tail End Vet Care. You made saying goodbye to a wonderful loving dog, easier and we all find comfort in your kindness. Much love, Jerry Vowrels. Love and miss you Bentley, 19 years of love you gave. In the end, I know you...
Read moreRecently moved to Louisville to find out that are pet had to be registered with the local animal services which is fine once I got there I was absolutely appalled are the attitude of the assistant director of this facility. Beside me is a African American lady picking up picking up her dog that had gotten out while she was in the hospital having open heart surgery. The the lady who is disabled I paid the money to have the dog released to her once that happen the organization told her if he could not give her the dog because the dog had not been neutered though in the computer they had put the dog had already been neutered so they told the woman she had to have the animal neutered prior to it getting released the lady Express that she did not have any more money if she was on a fixed income she was disabled and she just gotten out of the hospital having it open heart surgery and that she would just surrender the dog to them because she could not afford to take care of this dog. The assistant director of this facility told her that he would not allow her to surrender this dog and that he would charge her with leaving abandonment of this dog if she did not pay this amount of money. This is the most disgraceful demonstration of extortion I've ever seen in my life. She was trying to follow the law that is written to protect her yet he was not allowing her to do that this facility is paid for by tax dollars for animals to be surrendered so that it's in the best interest of the animal but this display buy this direct assistant director was appalling this is what they have running the Metro Animal Services sad to extort disabled people out of money absolutely said you gave him that Authority to put people in jail for trying to follow the law a gross...
Read moreMy family and I adopted a dog in November 2019. It bit three of my children over the next three months. The dog seemed sweet, but then would occasionally nip at my 1-year-old, my 4-year-old, and my 12-year-old. A friend's daughter was around the dog, and he bit her too. At that point in February of 2020 we decided it probably wasn't going to end. We took the dog to the shelter on Newburg Rd. This adoption center wants $150 to quarantine the dog, or I can quarantine the dog here in my home where he has bitten children. They also want $45 to turn the dog over to them after the quarantine period of 10 days. I've already paid a mandatory donation of $150 just to adopt the dog. Now that the dog has bitten, I feel like they should take their dog back and quarantine for free. They said I can apply for a waiver but have to pay first. He said there's no guarantee I'd get the waiver, but I'd have to give him my credit card information and pay up front. I will never adopt a dog from the humane society, shelter or pound again. If their dog's a biter, they should take it back and not require it be anywhere near children again. But, at this point, I have to keep the dog for 10 days in my home quarantined. I thought we didn't the right things to adopt from a shelter, but I paid $150 for him. They now want $150 to quarantine him. And, they want $45 to give him to them after the quarantine. That's $345 for getting a dog from the pound that...
