I would not recommend this store to anyone I care about.
My first experience happened last year when I called to ask about if they would be able to help me with my ring that needed repair. I was told that they were very busy and wouldn't be able to get to it anytime soon (before asking me my timeline) but that sometime in 2024 they could help me with it. I kind of put it off for a while after that and finally decided to take care of it during I time I was hoping would be slower.
I went in and was first approached by a German Shephard. I am a dog person but having recently been bitten by a dog who was scared by the stroller I was pushing my baby in, I was instantly uncomfortable.
When I sat down to discuss my needs, it felt very strange and when I looked around at the display, I realized it was likely because my ring did not fit in with the vibe of other jewelry in the store, but I did my best to stay positive and move past that. What put me over the edge was when my ideas were dismissed, I was told in many ways that they 'don't do' things the way my ring was made, and that the style of my ring is 'a fad' so there's nothing like it in the store to show how the suggested repair could look.
Please keep in mind this is my engagement ring which holds incredible sentimental value, and I have had it now since my husband and I were engaged in 2015. Never once has anyone told me it was a fad but instead, I have always received many compliments. Anyway, that is beside the point. I guess what I want to stress is don't go here unless you are prepared to be treated as if you are a nuisance, you are ok with being misled on a commitment to help with a fix, and you are ok with your sentimental jewelry being insulted.
I will say that as I was leaving the store in tears, an apology was spoken to my back, but at that point it was too distressing for me to go back to accept and try to...
Read moreI just picked up an emerald solitaire set in platinum that i had repaired. The repair work was really well done; true craftsmanship. The ring is nearly 100 years old- and it took more care and repair than anticipated - and Chris really ensure the ring was repaired correctly and beautifully.
I can understand some of the other reviews about timeliness and communication- i was tempted to take 1 star off as I at times felt it was taking too long and I had to be the one to communicate - proactively (Note, best bet is patience and calling back) BUT- artistic excellence, commitment to quality and incredible value (entire repair was under $400 and included replacing a small accent diamond) is way more important than my preferred timing.
If this were an excellent, sought after restaurant with an amazing chef - we’d all laugh at the reviewer who ate an amazing meal but complained about the wait to get a table.
I’ll take the same route- it was great and worth the wait- a good boutique...
Read moreOn several occasions I tried to work with Magpie for jewelry repairs. I gave this store/jeweler multiple chances and every time they failed me. The first occasion, I got a scoff when I said my main stone was a moissanite and never called back with the quote I was promised. The second time, I was told I’d get a callback to discuss the work on the jewelry I asked about. I called back to ask for an update after weeks of no follow up. They said they’d call back and never did. The third and final time I tried to work with the store, they said they had too long of a wait and because my main stone wasn’t a diamond it didn’t take priority so I’d have to be okay waiting at the bottom of the line. Overall, they were not friendly and were extremely judgey of my ring and jewelry. Would not...
