Buckatabon captures the cozy nostalgia of a northern Wisconsin supper club and pairs it with a modern twist on comfort food. Nestled in the heart of the city, this spot offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a weekend getaway. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, when the restaurant was bustling with lively conversation and football fans enjoying the game on the many TVs at the bar. Despite the activity, the service was prompt and friendly, and the ambiance maintained a relaxed, rustic vibe reminiscent of classic Midwest charm. The menu is packed with creative dishes, and we couldn’t resist trying a couple of their standout items. The Avocado Toast was a delightful combination of flavors and textures. The creamy avocado mash, peppery arugula, and tangy golden beet relish were beautifully balanced, while the crispy bacon slice and Urfa hollandaise added richness. All of this was served atop a hearty plank of everything toast, making it both satisfying and sophisticated. The Coffee Cake French Toast was pure decadence. Thick-cut challah bread formed the base for this dessert-like breakfast dish, topped with a sweet-spice crumble, zesty lemon icing, and a dollop of coffee butter that melted perfectly into the warm toast. Each bite was indulgent and layered with comforting flavors. Buckatabon offers more than just great food—it’s a whole experience. Whether you’re coming for brunch, a casual meal, or to catch a game with friends, this place delivers. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy hearty, inventive dishes in a setting that feels both nostalgic and fresh. We’ll definitely be back!

Well, I almost feel guilty leaving this review, because the atmosphere and Service were very good, but I found this place online and drove almost an hour to take my Family out as I've been in search of a good Prime Rib. I saw their Buck cut for $65 and while I have never in my life paid this much for a steak or cut of meat, I'm desperate for the taste of a well prepared Prime Rib. I usually order Medium , but due to recent overdone disappointments elsewhere. I ordered the Buck cut 24oz. Medium Rare. When it came out, it looked fantastic at first glance, but the natural reddish hue of Prime Rib fooled me. As I made my first cut, I noticed 2 concerns: there was absolutely no juice on or under the meat, when normally, there is a small pool on top. The cut was also difficult to make and had to actually saw a bit. Again, the meat looked great and came with the au jus and horseradish sauce, but the first bite thru the last bite was extremely dry..... no juice at all and I would dare say , actually cooked at minimum Medium Well or maybe well. Yes, it's pink, but there is nothing close to rare and soooo dry. I'm extremely disappointed. I did not say anything as I'm so tired of my Family getting their food and now what am I supposed to do? Have it remade and I eat alone? I just stuffed it down. Flavor was fine , but definitely not enjoyable, especially for a $200 Family Dinner which is frankly something I shouldn't have done anyway. I just hope this honest review helps create perhaps a Quality Control over what's being served.

My wife and I dined here last night for my birthday dinner. I'll start with the good. Patio was nice, staff was friendly, and food and drink pacing was good. Didn't have to wait too long for anything. Also, the deviled eggs were excellent. My wife enjoyed her steak salad, and she said she would recommend it. Now the not so good (and the reason for my rating). My drink was made incorrectly, which was corrected after I asked. But it still was on the bill. Again, corrected, but had to ask. And the steak. This was without a doubt the fattiest piece of meat I have ever been served. It was supposed to be a bone in new York strip. NY Strip is my favorite cut of meat. So I appreciate there should be a bit of fat on the edge and some marbling throughout. The steak is listed as 16 oz. If there was 4 oz of edible meat on that steak I would be shocked. Also, I ordered medium rare (pretty standard), and the inside was still cool to the touch (rare). I didn't send it back because there was hardly any meat to eat anyway. You can see on my photo the remnants of the battle I had with that cut of $50 steak. Overall it's probably a good place for a burger and beer. But it's definitely not delivering on the overall supper club experience that I would expect.

Over the past year the quality of Buckatabon has fallen.

2023 --- The cocktails are tiny. A $48 NY strip steak should not be your top item - what supper club doesn't offer a NY strip steak? And, if this is your top item, don't run out of it on a Saturday night. The buffalo chicken sandwich? Omg.. sad. Not hand breaded. Not tasty. I've had a better sandwich at Popeyes, which IS hand breaded, juicy, and substantive - not a thin chewy disc that I could have bought in the freezer section of Woodman's. The buffalo sauce was also messed with. Who messes with buffalo sauce? This sandwich was all kinds of disappointing. If this chicken is the same one they use for the crispy chicken dinner, we are so glad we didn't order it as it, too, would have been disappointing. (Related note: the waitstaff warned us the crispy chicken dinner was not great)

Tom Collins drink was more of a 'shooter' than a drink of more than a few sips. Mostly ice, very small glass.

Up-charges for everything. It bugs me when a restaurant nickels and dimes you for every little thing. I didnt feel taken care of; I felt extorted. Big prices for small portions. This was definitely not a good WI supper club experience.

The plates were not pretty. No relish tray! C'mon!! That is a supper club standard. At no time did we feel like we were getting our money's worth, but instead felt like we were being extorted in a smoke n mirrors show--again, big promises, no delivery.

Limited dessert menu. 3 desserts? Come thirsty so you can drink your dessert, I guess, but the Grasshopper comes in at least 2 different sized glasses.

On the upside, wedge salad was tasty as was the French onion cheese dip. Imho, Buckatabon should capitalize on the cheese dip and put it on a chicken sandwich, fries, or a burger, bc it's that good.

Be warned - what Buckatabon lacks for in consistency and substance they make up for in kitch. Shanties are fun - albeit pricey - for the return.

Buckatabon needs to decide if they are a bar that serves food or a supper club. Unfortunately, all of this doesn't matter to us because we...

My friends and I were greeted by Madelyn, a very stylish and attentive host and were seated on the beautiful patio overlooking the river. Shortly after, our Server Dani arrived and took our drink order. As our party included kids (and two childish adults), Dani was very patient as we struggled to decide if we wanted lemonade or water or maybe juice or coffee. She was simply wonderful and friendly. The mini muffins are a wonderful starter and were completely unexpected. Dani was equally patient as we pondered what we wanted to eat. The kids were ready, the adults were struggling. As I was buying for time, I asked if you can “Lumberjack it” to any breakfast. Dani explained the process and then told us that they get the question all the time. She said that it probably wouldn’t work at Target. I’m still going to try it.

We got hot (besides just our natural radiance) and Madelyn and Dani were more than happy to move us into the dining room. We were moved into a large booth with crushed velvet seats and 70’s style rolling seats. The interior is just gorgeous and classic. The kids had mixed reviews on the bird noises in the bathroom, one thought “Ring of Fire” sung by Johnny Cash was an appropriate song to play on repeat. The food, amazing! I am usually a breakfast champion but needed a box. Dessert drinks of Mimosas (I recommend the Resting Brunch Face mimosa… it isn’t just a cleaver name as the concoction is a perfect after brunch dessert).

Just at the end, I instinctively caught the falling item from the table. It happened to be a falling knife and I stuck my hand (merely a flesh wound but enough to draw blood). My friend suggested that I don’t catch a falling knife. Dani, after hearing what happened, offered the same advice. It is good advice. Moments later, Dani was back with a bandage and ointment. This is service that is above and beyond. I was content with the advice. Dani for the win! Gold star! Dani should proceed to “Go!” and collect $200.

I would come here again. Over and over....

I really don't like leaving negative reviews but sometimes it just is warranted. My wife and I have been trying to work a visit to the Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club into our schedule and finally were able to do so this past Saturday. We made reservations for ourselves and another couple, our friends arrived a few minutes ahead of us and texted us that they were seated in the dining room. When we arrived we checked in with the hostess, my wife told her we had a reservation for four, that our friends had arrived before us and were seated in the dining room. The hostess stated that she hadn't seated anyone in the dining room and they must be at the bar. The bar is the first thing you see as you enter the restaurant and we could easily see they were not there. At this time another hostess walked up and they discussed if anyone had been seated in the dining room, the second hostess pointed past the bar towards the dining room and told us to walk back there and look for our friends. Low and behold our friends were in fact there and were drinking old fashioneds, I asked how they were and they stated that they were very weak so my wife and I decided to have soda's instead. When the server asked if our friends would like another drink they told our server that they were very weak and they would just have the water that was in the decanter on the table instead, the server didn't apologize for the drinks or offer them new ones. I had prime rib, my wife and our friends husband had the ribs while my wife's friend had Larry's seafood linguine. The food was flavorful but the linguine had small pieces of clam shells in it, the Prime Rib was cooked to the correct temperature but was a bit fattier and tougher than what I am used to or have had many times before. The water at the table ran out half way through the dinner and our waitress just wasn't very attentive. The ambiance is definitely Wisconsin supper club, warm and inviting but the food and service fell...
