I love going to the movies and decided it was time to start again since the pandemic seems to have calmed down a bit. So I went to the movies for the first time in over two years and BLAM! Sticker shock and how unsanitary the theater was. For two adult tickets, one large popcorn and one large drink was $45.00(with tax) in the Grand Screen theater……OUCH. Going to the first movie of the day one could expect the theater to be clean but I have been proven incorrect. The Grand Screen theater looked as if a movie had just ended in the theater and no one had time to clean it. Candy wrappers, popcorn and popcorn bags littered the theater. The cup holders were sticky with candy wrappers stuck inside them. When I arrived to get tickets there were three young people at the counter doing nothing. One girl was doing something with the other girls hair and the young man was just standing there watching. What happened to taking pride in how your business looks to the customer? Do you figure no one will notice the messy and sticky mess if the lights are kept turned down really low? People do turn on a flash light to find their seats and when they do you can see how messy it really is. I know there were issues with the cleanliness of the theater before the pandemic but you would think that maybe they would take extra caution in the cleaning of the business and maybe learn something from the pandemic but apparently that is not the case. Management at the Patriot 12 Theater in Waynesville should be ashamed of themselves. There’s nothing patriotic about it and maybe you should change the name to the Garbage Pail Theater 12. It may be two years before I go to another movie again. Disappointed for sure.
Update* I went to the theater again three weeks later in 04/2022, and not much had changed. Found a movie ticket on the floor from February 26 2022 so it appears the floor may not have been cleaned since February.
Update* went to the theater again to see the new Top Gun on the Grand Screen and the cup holders were dirty and sticky but there was t as much pop corn and trash on the floor as before so maybe they are cleaning more often ? Again first showing on the day and six workers standing around doing nothing behind the counter. Maybe they could have been cleaning up a bit. Mr. Bagby needs to make a surprise visit to this theater and check it out or at least the District Mgr, who’s name I will not mention, should take better control of this theater or just continue to show you really don’t care as long as you are making money.
By the way Top Gun was a...
Read moreOne of the posters here gave it one atar saying it's closed. Sorry "Michael Jackson" but you're wrong. It's in a new and fantastic location right by the high school where they get plenty of traffic from the very large school district. It's a great theater with a wonderful staff who are a family and most of them have been loyal to the waynesville b&b for decades. I know this makes it sound like I work there or know someone who does... I don't. I grew up in waynesville and visit quite frequently. I've watched the establishment flourish because of the longtime loyal staff and their friendly and professional work ethic. And yea...I gather it is a bit tough to find for people who are from out of town. You get off the interstate, take a right (or left) toward the businesses you see and it's literally the first right (stoplight) and then the first left on that road. That's not so tough. Awesome place. Kinda sad to see the old one go even though the new one is like a mega B&B. Lots of memories in the old building. Wanna talk about hard to find for our of townera? The old building was a bit tough to find the road to. (;
P.s.
The 21 and over? I just checked that. Any movie they are showing in the 21 and over theater that serves alcohol, they are required to also show in another all-ages theater. That's why you see showtimes for three different cycles. For example, you see star wars showing at 7:15, then another theater at 7 and another at 745. Those three showtimes are obviously not in one theater. They are using three different screening rooms. One of them serves alcohol.
They will always show the movie that's in the adult only theater in another, age friendly, theater.
So please stop giving one star reviews and bringing down the theater's total as a whole because you are...
Read moreOverall, my experience was not good. Getting into the movie theater goes as fast as one would expect, but that is the only redeeming quality of this place. I decided to leave the movie theater one time before the movie started and grab some snacks only to realize that four little bags of candy nearly put me down twenty dollars. After sitting through the movie I planned to watch, a little cranky that I'd paid such a ridiculous amount for candy, I went to throw it away and noticed that the garbage can was overfilled and that people had been stacking their garbage around the trash hole. That has happened every single time I've gone to this theater. To make things worse, I dropped my purse at one point, consequentially dropping my wallet. I didn't notice until I'd left the theater. Once I realized it, I hurried and talked to one of the people at the front to see if I could go back and get it, but they refused saying that a new movie had just started in the theater I'd been in And that I would have to wait two and half hours till it finished. I just wanted to go home, and I wasn't intending to drive without a license. A friend drove me to wait out the mess at their house, since we'd be returning soon enough. Unfortunately, we waited just too long and another movie had started. I wasn't going to be allowed in for another two hours. I'd had it, so I tried to speak to the manager. The people up front almost didn't let me. The manager, at least, is a reasonable person, and they walked with me to retrieve my wallet, but I am upset that I had to go through so much trouble just to be able to get my wallet from the theater. This was not a...
