Went in with my polite, well behaved son and nephews (they're all 9+ so it wasn't like I rolled up with a pack of destructive toddlers). My son was interested in the windsock type yard ornaments so we were LOOKING AT them and I (an adult) gently spun one so we could see what it did. A man immediately stormed over to us admonishing us for IDK what - looking at something we were prepared to purchase? If an item you're selling is at risk of breaking by having two sets of eyeballs glancing at it and a teeny tiny tap to watch the windsock do windsock-y things, your merchandise is probably sub-par.
The t-shirt/sweatshirt selection is ok but more expensive than other places we went while visiting. The Beachcomber store is right down the road. Despite this, I ended up spending well over $100 on a sweatshirt and other misc junk my kid "needed". The woman who rang us out was rude, unfriendly and acted like we came in with the sole purpose of ruining her day.
The store itself is iconic with the pool floats and yard ornaments outside, and has always been our sign that we've arrive to our Happy Place, but after this years visit we won't be back here for souvenirs.
EDITED the next day: Just pulled the $30 tee shirt I got for my son out of the wash and the screen print on the front is already patchy and fading. We got it one week ago and itās been washed AT MOST...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friends and I stopped here to check out the Seaberry Surf floaties for the beach. While we were there, we decided to go to the front of the store to look at the smaller objects and toys. One of the friends I was with goes and buys something and then keeps looking around, but oddly the cashiers kept staring at us and their eyes kept following us wherever we went. It felt like they assumed we were going to try to steal something and it was very unsettling and disrespectful. We wouldn't walk in to a store if we did not have the money and why would someone purchase an item and then steal something else? There were plenty of people in the store but for some reason their eyes kept landing us. Yes we're teenage girls, but we have the money. Long story short, this place will never get our service again. Hopefully they won't wrongfully judge anyone else like they did to us, but either way I would suggest spending your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTOURISTs BEWARE - (from your friendly local) DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY My mother and I made a day trip to P town and on the way back purchased some pool floats for tourist pricing obviously I could have found them cheaper online or at walmart but convenience was there so when we got home and there was a rip in the seam of the lining we were upset but not past going there to exchange it. After driving the hour drive back expecting to exchange it they refused saying some weird story about how they test them all at the warehouse and blow them all up to make sure there's nothing wrong! WOW, my mom was too kind and was actually conned into purchasing a repair kit instead of them owning up their shotty product, nope instead we were returned with horrible service and a...
