Coles Corner Gift Shop — Local services in Wells

This was a deeply embarrassing and violating experience. I was visiting with my family from out of state and the woman at the checkout counter asked if my sister in law was new to the country after misunderstanding why the woman wanted to hold items at the front of the store that she was considering purchasing. I was looking at signs and knick knacks with my mother in law and was disciplined for taking a photo of a sign that we liked. After that, the woman followed my brother in law around the rest of the store because she was concerned that he would steal a harmonica. Upon exiting the store, the woman stopped my brother in law and would not let him leave until he showed her where he set down the harmonica in the store after deciding not to purchase it. My brother in law and father in law were escorted through the store against the traffic pattern to find this harmonica and left feeling extremely insulted. Never in my life did I think I would be corralled into a craft store using fencing that says “Do Not Enter” after you pass through and scolded for not following arrows for direction of traffic flow in a craft store. Usually I am all for supporting local business, but I do not recommend supporting store owners who unfairly profile...

Cole's Corner is hands down the best place to shop for creative crafts, antiques, and collectibles—all at incredibly reasonable prices. The store itself is clean, inviting, and brimming with unique treasures that will spark your creativity and curiosity.

Diane, the store owner, truly sets the tone for this charming shop. She’s not only customer-focused but also has a fantastic sense of humor. And honestly, she needs it! Some of the entitled behavior she deals with would leave anyone speechless. Case in point: to the woman who demanded 10 bags of free popcorn for her $1 purchase (seriously?!)—you’re missing the bigger picture here. Cole’s Corner is a welcoming space where generosity flows, including a complimentary bag of delicious popcorn for every customer who makes a purchase.

It’s the little details, like that bag of popcorn, that make this store feel extra special. Diane ensures everyone feels valued, and her prices are already so fair that causing a scene over extra popcorn is just unnecessary.

Deserves no stars. Been coming here with our kids for 10 years and today the owner completely judged our teenage son, accused him of stealing a cardboard card from a wallet while I was standing right there with him!! This was our son's first experience with being judged and treated unfairly.. furthermore she clearly thought I was watching my kids steal!? ( He was reading the wallet cardboard card insert to see if the fake prada knockoff was real and had it in his hands right in front of me watching) and then she escorted us out of the building and stood on the porch and made sure we drove away! You can't judge people based on their looks or race. . It's 2024 ! Don't come here unless you feel like being judged and treated like a criminal.
