I like the retro feel of the place. Not many roller rinks have that anymore. However, there isn't much else positive to say. I very much enjoyed this place as a kid but either its changed, or I just didn't observe these things when I was younger. Upon walking in, the walls were absolutely covered in signs with new rules. I am not one who complains about rules, but these were excessive. It was to the point where you essentially can't do anything at all. I got yelled at by the ref to "keep moving" while I was helping my friend who didn't know how to skate. We were also not in anyone's way, mind you. We were up at the wall where slow skaters typically are. I also got the whistle blown at me at for having a film camera, so I put that away and tried to take some photos of my friends with their phones, and got the whistle again. There was no posted rule against photography so I was just super confused. My friends were both treated pretty rudely when asking for a different size in rental skates. They acted like they didn't believe them when they said they actually did try them on and they really didn't fit. They were just treated like they were wasting the staff's time. There is also a newly implememted dress code there, not for safety, but for "modesty" (no short skirts, crop tops, muscle tanks, no rips in jeans above the knee, there was more but I can't remember.) I've never entered a public space that has a dress code like that. My friend was reprimanded for the length of her skirt, even though she had fully opaque tights under it. There was a poor girl, no older than 12, wearing a wide strapped tank, who was embarrassed and covering her shoulders with her arms after being reprimanded for her shirt. The same referee who whistled at me multiple times for rules I didn't even know I was breaking, grabbed a crying child by the hood of his sweatshirt, and tried to discipline him in the middle of the rink. The kid was having a bit of a meltdown and this ref took it upon himself to act like his father, and treated him very poorly in doing so. Everyone was very uncomfortable watching this happen. Lastly, and maybe not as important, but they don't play actual music there anymore. It was just royalty free carnival organ music the whole time. It never changed. And it was so loud I left with a headache. I am generally a rule follower. I try to avoid trouble at all costs and I know that rules are necessary for safety. But too many rules makes an experience no longer enjoyable. We couldn't do anything but skate in a circle, but couldn't stop, even on the wall, couldn't take pictures for some reason, couldn't even wear what we wanted, and apparently can't ask for a different skate size without receiving a passive aggressive response. So yeah, my friends and I came here for a fun nostalgic time and ended up having a very odd and uncomfortable experience. I enjoyed skating but not much else. I can enjoy skating elsewhere even though I will miss the truly 80s vibe of this place. The management is...

Read moreA Skating Gem Full of History and Heart
We stumbled upon the Mount Gretna Roller Rink while biking the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail—and what an incredible find! The rink is full of character and charm, unlike anything you’ll see at a modern facility. The owners’ passion for preserving its history shines through in every detail.
They were kind enough to share the story of the rink’s past and even showed us part of their amazing, one-of-a-kind skate collection. It’s rare to meet people who care so deeply about keeping a piece of local history alive while also creating a welcoming, family-friendly place to have fun.
The wooden floor, the atmosphere, and the sense of nostalgia made skating here a truly special experience. If you’re in the area—whether you’re on the rail trail or just visiting Mount Gretna—this rink is absolutely worth the stop. We can’t wait to come back and will be sharing the photos and brochure...
