I normally don't write reviews but I've had such a horrible experience with this place and don't want anyone having to go through the same thing. Based on other reviews, Central Texas Dermatology seemed like a great place to try out.
I first visited in Jan 2023 and met with Dr. Trizna, I guess I had really high expectations based on the reviews I read about him but it was a very below average experience. I felt like he rushed through the appointment and basically just went along with everything I told him when he should be the expert advising me. I told him I think I may have rosacea and have been using xyz products. He didn't confirm or deny it he just disapproved of the products and gave me a prescription grade ointment of what I've been using. I gave it a try for 8 months and I felt like it just made my skin worse so I came back in early Aug 2023 to discuss other options and get a proper assessment. Once again, he just blew through the appointment, even being unsympathetic that there is no treatment for some of the skin lesions I have that I wanted to talk about and basically said you're just gonna have to deal with it. Harsh. We moved on to talk about the unhelpful ointment he prescribed me and gave me a new prescription for a face wash.
When I got to the pharmacy the face wash wasn't ready because my insurance needed to talk to my doctor first, so my pharmacy faxed them to respond. I had to be the one to call and check in on this and that took almost 2 weeks to finally get an answer from someone that my insurance wouldn't cover it. Since I would have to pay out of pocket I asked if they had any suggestions on alternatives that my insurance would cover. The woman I spoke to about this was so unhelpful and pretty much said tough luck we can't do anything and I had to basically beg her to talk to the doctor for alternatives. What kind of help is that?
It's now been a total of 3 weeks, so many unreturned voicemails, and several staff promising me to call back and I have heard NOTHING from anyone. Some of the folks I've talked to like Robert was super kind and understanding how ridiculously long this process has been but other women I've spoken to made me feel like a nuisance and shoved me off like I'm overreacting, overall I've had horrible customer service. I feel like I just wasted my money going here since I've gotten 0 help, I don't understand why this has been such a difficult process. I'm also not sure why my situation was such a different experience compared to the rest of the reviews but I don't plan on returning to this practice and suggest others to tread carefully.
Update: Since writing this post someone named Natalie called me and was very helpful and finally got all my questions taken care of including the prescription at hand. Iām bumping up my rating to 2 stars because of the good experience I did have with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCentral Texas Dermatology's billing practices are not just unethical; they're downright deceptive. My recent encounter with this establishment left me deeply disappointed and utterly incensed at their fraudulent maneuvers.
I scheduled a cosmetic laser consultation, for which I paid a non-refundable fee of $200 upfront. However, during the appointment, I was told my skin wasn't suitable for the laser treatment I sought. Fair enough, I accepted that professional opinion. But what followed was a bait-and-switch tactic. The dermatologist decided to conduct a trial laser procedure on a small area without my explicit consent, all while referring me to another practitioner for the actual treatment I sought.
Adding insult to injury, a few days later, I received a bill from my insurance company for an office visit claimāsomething I was never informed about nor had any reason to anticipate. This claim amounted to nearly $200, with a significant portion expected from me. Central Texas Dermatology conveniently omitted any mention of this additional charge during my visit or in any prior communication.
Attempting to rectify this blatant act of deception, I reached out to the office multiple times, seeking clarification and resolution. To my dismay, my efforts were met with silence and indifference. It's evident that Central Texas Dermatology has no intention of addressing their wrongdoing or acknowledging their responsibility in this matter.
It is utterly reprehensible for a medical establishment to exploit patients in such a manner. To lure individuals in with promises of specific services, only to tack on undisclosed charges afterward, is not just unethical but downright fraudulent. Patients deserve transparency and honesty, not to be treated as cash cows to be milked at every opportunity.
In conclusion, I urge anyone considering Central Texas Dermatology for their dermatological needs to proceed with extreme caution. Don't be fooled by their facade of professionalism; behind it lies a practice willing to engage in deceptive billing practices without hesitation. Save yourself the headache and financial burden by seeking care elsewhere, preferably from an establishment with integrity and respect for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is being posted late as I was waiting for my bank to settle my dispute, which they did in my favor.
I called in Jan to make an appt for a consultation for my husband for their CO2 laser to see if it would help with his dark circles. Originally I made two consultations for each of us and put down $200 for each consult ($400 total). When making the appt, I clarified multiple times with the woman on the phone that if we decide that the treatment isnāt beneficial for our concerns, that we would be able to use that deposit to other services. She said yes as long as the services are with that same provider. I thought great, if this doesnāt work out, Iāll have $400 worth of credits for Botox etc.
Closer to the date, I decide to cancel my consultation and they refund my deposit. My husband goes to his appt and the doctor inform him that the CO2 lasers wonāt help his dark circles.
About a month after that I call to schedule an appt for Botox and use the $200 deposit that was put down. The guy on the phone tells me thatās now how their deposits work and I can only use it towards that service, and it is non transferable to other patients (since it was on my husbands acct). I asked for the issue to be looked into by higher ups because that was not what I was told originally.
After months of never getting called back and being given the run around, the manager called me back who was nasty out the gap. She told me that she listened to my original call and told me that i was given wrong information and that they werenāt going to honor what I was told about using the deposit for other circumstances. She was very nasty, and didnāt honor what they told me.
I had dispute the charge with my bank and it was refunded to me as the bank understood I was told something and then they changed it after the fact.
Awful business practices, I would go...
