Well worth the detour. It's the only area we visited this part of the park and there was plenty to see! Our walk on the boardwalk trail was amazing. Such variety!

Our walk with a sedentary family of 4 took 1.5 hours with lots of stopping.

The colors in this pool are otherworldly. This might have been my favorite in West Thumb simply for the fact that it seemed to radiate a unique turquoise glow about the entire area. I also appreciated how close in proximity the trees were growing in relation this the pools on this side...

This one was my favorite. Super clear blue. Yellowstone in the fall is the best. If you’re coming from Grand Teton, start from south entrance. Only 2 hour drive and then...

This one was my favorite. Super clear blue. Yellowstone in the fall is the best. If you’re coming from Grand Teton, start from south entrance. Only 2 hour drive and then work your way up
