We did a 1hour trail ride in Aug. Was an OK overall experience. We saw a few Elk on our ride. Price is apt. The guides have good sense of the trail, area & most of them were nice. Trail has decent up & downs + views. The event almost takes 1hour 45 minutes (15 minutes early arrivals for paper work, 15-30 minutes briefing and instructions, 1hour of ride).
Experience with the Ride. While I was getting on to my horse, the guide assisting me seemed a bit careless. A mini ladder was used to climb up the horse but the ladder wasnt placed in the right position and angle since the landscape was sloppy. I would have almost have had a fall. i had to tell the guide to move the horse to a higher position on ground to help me climb up.
Through out my ride, I had pain in my ankle. The reason for this is the Stirrups on the left were not adjusted well. I raised this concern to the guides and they dismissed saying "it is position that you are not used to sitting in everyday" Sure - But I can evaluate what is comfortable and uncomfortable every single day. Through out the ride I was in pain and hence couldn enjoy the ride as much. I was just waiting for the ride to be over.
Suggestions It will best to explain the terminologies before the briefing. Not everyone does horse ride often or know. (Ex: What is a Rein?) The guides might be comfortable with the horse riding gear, remember people who visit the facility are not someone who ride the horses frequently. So you really need to get to basics & be patient. The website calls out that it is an hour long event. However with the instructions + ride - it takes 1.5 hours. It is best to call this out on the website. People can plan...
Read moreOur family did a trail ride and it was a fantastic experience!!! The wrangler gals were awesome! They kept a watch over all the younger kids, including my son who’d never been on a horse before. They chatted with everyone and were very friendly and fun to be around. They talked with our kids, asking questions and involving them. We had an exciting moment when a bison got fairly close to our group! The wranglers steered us off on another path and then chased the bison off!! We felt safe the whole time and it was kinda neat to watch! Everyone there made us feel so welcome. I think my favorite thing was what they did for my youngest daughter. She had to watch my husband and I and our other 4 kids leave on the ride, but she had to stay back with grandparents because she was too young. The head lady saw this and offered her a pony ride!! A sweet wrangler gal took her up and down the little path on a pony, talking with her the whole time My daughter was SO excited to get to ride too!! We so appreciate that kindness. We would 150% recommend them and will definitely ride again next time we come. Thanks for a great...
Read moreHighly Recommend! My partner and I did the two-hour morning ride starting around 9:30am on a Thursday morning, late July. The all-female wrangler crew made the trip. They were experienced, knowledgeable, had safety as a priority, quickly addressed any potential issues that might slow the group down, and were so fun!! Liz, I think, was the head wrangler of the group, from Texas (yee haw), and was a great story teller. Highlights: 1) the wranglers/guides. 2) the horses. Mine was Mr. Jingles, I learned had been trained by a convict. Super cool especially since I'd read about such operations, and seen movies. 3) the views! What views, and to see such wild landscape while riding a capable horse felt like a step back in time. We were also very fortunate to not only see elk along the trail, but also a coyote and a red-tailed hawk. Two hours went by quickly, I felt, and I can only imagine how quickly 1 hour would feel, but some started to get a bit sore toward the end of the two-hour, so to each their comfort level. My partner and I highly recommend this awesome experience into the back country of...
