We were there on 10/30. We came up from Jackson but the South entrance was closed for snow and 191 being the only way in and out of the south we had to go back and enter through West entrance. We drove for 5 hrs. Learned the hard way but it is so important to sign up for up-to-minute text messages of the road closures during this time of the season. You can sign up through the Yellowstone National Park Service website. The Old Faithful area had many people but it was not crowded and we were able to enjoy every part of the geysers near by with leisurely strolls. Weather was cloudy but above freezing. Yellowstone’s roads close 11/4 this year. We were worried about this but the park was open everywhere and without any crowd around, except for the above bummer at the south entrance. The boardwalks to each geyser was nearly empty of people and the parking lot with plenty of spaces. So it turned out very good for us visiting the park this late...
Read moreThis ICONIC Geyser was captured in July, in the evening, around 8:45pm and I got lucky with the colors of the fading sun.
Old Faithful gets some serious attention for sure at the Basin, she is constantly going off every 90 minutes or so.
When you enter the parking area just look for the VISITORS CENTER, huge building, on the NORTH side of the building is Old Faithful just waiting to be seen by YOUR EYES. You can see the vent from the VC and it is a very short walk to the boardwalk.
For those who are handicapped the closest place to park would be at the OLD FAITHFUL LODGE not to be confused with the INN. If you park at the INN you will have to walk up an incline to the boardwalk.
This is a must see BUT if you are staying there or feel the need to stay out till it gets dark it is well worth the wait in the evening.

Read moreWell, This was an extremely interesting geyser to see. Predictable and running just a little late when we saw it on June 10th. With a high temp that day of 47, light snow while we were at Old Faithful and nights at 20 degrees F. Surprising cool from what I would have expected for June. The entire area is amazing with geysers that spew more water than old faithful, some that go longer, but not as predictable. A must see for everyone. Everyone post pics of Old faithful, I a,m going to post pics of other geysers and springs in the area in hope you will take th walk around the area boardwalk and take in the beauty. Stop at the lodge, it’s amazing how the heavy timber made the lodge. The inside is beautiful and with your time. There is a view point from a higher peak to see Old faithful which I recommend. It a little hike but the vantage point is cool. The video is old faithful at the end...
