Blue Star Spring near the Old Faithful Observation Point is absolutely beautiful. The water is incredibly clear with a deep blue color that looks almost unreal. You can see straight into the vent, and the clarity makes it feel like you’re looking directly into the earth. The edges of the spring are coated with mineral deposits, and a few streaks of orange from thermophiles add some nice contrast.
The spring is located along the Observation Point trail, which is a short and manageable hike. Once you reach the top, you get a panoramic view of Old Faithful and the Upper Geyser Basin, and Crystal Spring is tucked in quietly along the path. It’s peaceful, calm, and feels almost hidden compared to the rest of the area.
