Brought my daughter to urgent care for a finger laceration. Suture tech said the option was a pressure dressing or sutures and we wanted a pressure dressing to avoid a lidocaine injection. Dr. ROBERT BAUN came and in advised sutures. When we told him we preferred the dressing, he was incredibly condescending and rude. He said, "the infection risk is super high" for a small laceration that was not open with controlled bleeding. He said "do you think she's even gonna let you dress her finger when she won't let me touch it?" As if any child wants a stranger with an unwelcoming tone of voice touching them when they are in pain. We explained that the suture tech said the dressing was a viable and safe option and he used the power play, "WELL I'M THE DOCTOR" which shows me what kind of dynamic he has with not only his patients but his colleagues who spent more time in that exam room with us than he did. We asked my daughter if she could take an injection and she said no and Dr. ROBERT BAUN had the audacity to say "well who are the parents here" as if a child shouldn't have any input as to what happens to their body. Honestly, the suture tech provided more evidence and information into our options than he did. He was rude, had poor bedside manner and used fear mongering and coercive language like "the infection risk is super high" and "well I'm the doctor" to sway our decision. His tone of voice was argumentative and he clearly does not know how to participate in shared decision making between patients and healthcare providers, as he acted frustrated and quick to leave when we decided on the less invasive option. Surely somebody who handles the care of children should have more compassion than this. He is not a good example of how physicians should honor patient autonomy and I do not like the way he spoke to my...
Read moreMedical staff was ok, but waiting time was long, receptionist and security guy were irritable and mean.
Had to bring 6 year old son to urgent care because someone jumped on him and hurt his arm, and had to drag our 3 year little one along with us. Waited about an hour in waiting area. When went to ask receptionist which we checked in with about the waiting time, the receptionist just accused me not being patient and suggested me to go to a different place. I replied I didn't want to go to a different place. Then a security guy got involved and wanted to remove me from the building. I almost got in to something physical with the security guy, then we were called by medical staff. Complained to consumer relationship office etc, after and they pretty much sided with their staff. I complained further to independent consumer protection agency and don't know what happened after since they said they would not communicate with me about investigation result. For me, I am not going back to this place, at all. There are other locations. Not sure whether it's because we are visually minority. I have never had such experience in...
Read moreWhile grateful to have a pediatric ER and hospital near us, we have had some pretty unimpressive experiences so I don't have a high degree of trust in Nationwide.
Must notably my daughter needing an ultrasound for a neck mass. Two ultrasound reports from Nationwide said NOT thyroid or parathyroid, declared just mass of unknown origin and monitor for growth. Sent that same imaging for expert 2nd opinion - it's her thyroid, and they disagreed with Nationwide's measurements.
Another visit to the ER for corneal abrasion, they deemed an eye injury to be low priority with a 6 hr wait, crying in pain with a gouged cornea. Eye injuries are time-sensitive and when she was finally seen they were able to call in the specialist and get her adequate care, but should have been started sooner. Having accompanied an adult with an eye injury to the ER, I understand the care my daughter should have received.
Doctors, specialists, therapists, all seem very knowledgeable and great with my kids, but definitely have...
