I was highly disappointed in both food and service. I hate being a Karen or ever complaining because I too work in food service, but I don’t know what’s going on at this restaurant. From what I observed they seem to be severely understaffed. My server was not only taking care of majority of the dining room, but also the bar. My N/A beverage took close to 10 minutes to get to me while the restaurant was near empty. I don’t blame the server I blame the lack of workers. Why do you need 4 hosts (I think they were hosts, because they were all surrounding the host station) when you only have one server? Why aren’t there food runners to make this easier on the servers when they have half of the restaurant to take care of? The food came out decently fast which was nice, but upon biting into the onion rings it was like biting into plastic. The batter was hard and bland, I thought I was going to break a tooth biting into it. The “Nashville hot tenders” were also mediocre at best. They were soggy instead of crispy, and had little to no flavor. When I asked for ranch to maybe/ hopefully save the tenders I was served blue cheese which just ruined it for me. It took our server a while to get back to us to even notice I wasn’t liking my food (once again I don’t blame her since it seemed she was the only server in the whole restaurant) but when she did I was able to return the food and get it taken off the bill which was nice. Although getting my food taken off the bill it was still unnecessarily expensive. It was 30 dollars for my mothers sandwich, with a side of chips (very small portion of chips might I add) and two drinks. After tipping it was a little over 40 dollars in total. Maybe I just ordered the wrong items on the menu, or maybe it was just a weird Wednesday evening, but me personally I will not be coming back. Please get food runners, and higher some...
Read moreToday was my first trip out to BRU Burger Bar in Westerville.
Stepping inside we were immediately greeted and taken to our table. Our waitress arriving shortly after to take drink orders. Staff was very friendly and our waitress gave us some ideas on what to order as it was our first time at this location.
The main theme of this place is obviously burgers, but there are other options. I went with the double bacon and onion rings. The burger arrived cooked as ordered and was seasoned well. Juicy with lots of flavor. The onion rings also had a very great flavor as well. It was served with a tub of their in house ketchup which has a unique flavor with just a little kick to it. Not too spicy, but enough to give your fries (I requisitioned some from someone else at my table ;) ) just a little extra pep in their step. The fries had the usual compliment of sauce and what tasted like a little bit of seasoning in them as well. If you get fries or onion rings, bring your appetite. Because the portions were generous and the burger is just waiting on the side just as generous. Needless to say I left full, and so did everyone else at the table.
This is a two story location with what looked like nice seating on the balcony upstairs. It looks like it would be a very atmospheric location for a nice mild evening this summer. Everything was clean, spacious, and had a modern touch to it but still keeping with a bit of flair and life about it as well.
Our waitress was absolutely on top of everything. From drinks to our opinion of the food. Fantastic service. Friendly, happy, and right on with keeping tabs on their customers.

Read moreThe empty dining room at 6:00pm on a Saturday should have been the only reason I needed to turn around. There were folks upstairs, but the first floor space had only one other couple seated. Our tab for 3 adults without alcohol, including tip was $89.
I love eating a burger that’s not a typical American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. So I went adventurous and ordered the Mexicali burger. It wasn’t gross. But it wasn’t delicious either. Their house made ketchup is the only thing that saved it. There was an off taste to the meat, I couldn’t quite place it.
My husband and our friend ordered pretty run of the mill burgers. Nothing they’d ever come back for. The fries and ketchup were honestly the best part.
Service was trash. We spent that much money and were there well after our meal, I left a 20% tip prior to us staying longer and catching up with our friend. My husband and I received one refill each and our friend didn’t receive even one.
Once the bill was taken care of, we weren’t spoken to again. There may have been 4 other tables in our section. They were not busy downstairs. It was about 30 minutes prior to closing, someone starts singing, “It’s closing time!” And then they proceeded to turn the lights out in our section. It’s a Saturday night and they have a bar.
Will never return and wish we would have just went into Local Cantina like we first suggested. I would have enjoyed a Wendy’s burger much more over this over-priced one.
Keep your $90 and go to Wendy’s then find a great place to grab drinks or something, so...
