My adopting experience was just fine, it was getting my free vet visit in the first week, which is something they offer to all adopters, that was pretty unhelpful. My kitten was sneezing and congested already when i brought her home and I made an appt. with them to check her out, see if she needs antibiotics or anything. They take her in and about 5-6 mins later I get a call saying shes fine, its a virus, you will just have to wait it out, antibiotics wouldnt help. 2 weeks later, she is still congested and her eyes have just started having discharge so I take her a different vet who says he cant believe they sent her home with nothing as she is very obviously sick. Whats more, he pointed out that it was very odd that my kitten had gotten zero vaccinations and no deworming or flea treatment when she was at the shelter. I realized he was right. And they did not offer any of them when I took her into that first week vet appt. I am so upset I listened to them and just let my cat suffer/get worse when she could have been getting better. I would caution people to ask questions about vaccines or physical symptoms before adopting and to probably use a different vet service.
EDIT: Got test results from the other vet, TWO upper respiratory infections. Im so upset at this place.
Re-edit: Looked all the way back in my emails for the adoption contract they emailed and there were attachments that had vaccine records. So according to those they did give her vaccines..?? For some reason when my vet either called them or requested records through the computer they relayed that she had none. Im just glad they did the vaccinations because they do a lot of adoptions there so that worried me. Looks like they may be just a bit unorganized...
Read moreI adopted Corky from the Berman facility in Westland. I'm so in love in just a few days... I just want to give a shout out to the gentleman that made this happen, rpetibone??? He was awesome! I renamed him Shaggy because he has so much hair.
In the use first 12 hours, he fell in the toilet, was on the stove, on leather dining room furniture and jumped on my girls. I'm so in love and he will be spoiled beyond belief.
I tried to find a direct way to thank rpetibone but no luck. I have some super cute pics I would love for him to see.. I renamed him Shaggy.
This is my 3rd adoption from Berman. I had the first two till you put them to rest very humanly. 10 plus years each. Thank you for everything you do.

Read moreI will be only commenting on the adoption center. Staff are rude and there faces look like as if one of there family members just passed away. It’s a shelter “a humane center”; this means that you expect to see happy welcoming faces. They are completely unprofessional and unorganized. I was trying to adopt for the first time and I was standing behind two people thinking I was in the line. I figured out later that the 2 people in front of me were there to buy food for there pets. When my turn came, they told me that I should go directly to the show room. Also, no body told me to sign in after the show room, so I kept standing not knowing that my turn...
