This store is okay pretty clean but there are very few parking spaces only right by the door you can go in the rest are all marked for pickups well unfortunately that may be the case but I have never gone there since they changed how much parking they have given for pickups that there were more than two cars in that whole area that they've blocked off for pickups only. I have noticed that it seems like a lot of their prices are really going up and they going up rapidly can't truly understand that. I'm 64 and have many medical issues and I know that I could get a Handicap plate but I don't as there are more people who have it harder than me, but I have to wonder when the snow coming I have to wonder how much it is going through the parking lot and the huge amount of parking spaces is going to end up being an issue in my opinion as over half your parking lot is marked picked up pickups only and I think that this is eventually going to cause more and more people an issue come winter as you have such limited parking number one for handicapped number two for regular patrons of your store. I have put it off for over 3 years of people that know of all my health issues telling me get a handicap plate get a handicap plate and I said no there are people I've seen that need those spots and if it takes me a little more effort or time when I shop at your store then that's what it is. I just wanted to add this to my post with the weather getting colder and colder it may be something you should rethink about not everyone can afford to have peapod or the pickup only area some of us live on SS DI which is pretty tough when you're pulling into a grocery store as big as yours and seeing that you have allotted over half of your spaces for the people that may be able to order and just pick up whatever they need. Maybe this should be thought about before winter gets here because there is no way and at least in my opinion no way if I pull in to your store and see that it's slush and hasn't been plowed with the very few amount of space that you have I'm not going to be able to push their cart's through that mess with as little amount of parking as you have! If this is what I end up seeing you will lose customers from it so maybe from a woman that's 64 has coronary artery disease vascular disease in many other complicated medical issues one of mind being on top of those two is I have COPD so to push a card through the limited spaces knowing I may have to actually finally give in and apply to get a handicap plate or placket I think management should revisit just how many spots I truly needed during the day for pickup or peapod. I did read the response from the company or management not sure who technically it is stating that they're glad that I'm a customer a happy customer there at my age with all my illnesses because I will not keep trying to do as much as I can with everything I have wrong I definitely know I am one customer that will pick up the necessities at 7-Eleven and drive to another supermarket versus trying to find a parking space as the last two times I did the same thing following car after car circling the few spaces you have, this is just from my perspective and would be more than willing to speak with management about just how hard it is for someone like me who realizes everyone that's pushed me to get a placket is right but again I'm going to state that for me I probably will have to apply for a placket but even though I have shopped in your store fairly many many weeks but was appalled that there is such little parking area and even handicap areas personally that...
Read moreThis review is solely based on my encounter today with the bakery department over the phone. To be specific with the bakery department "manager" named Holly. First I've called about three times to get information on a custom cake order and she is hardly ever there. Finally got her on the phone today, she kept rushing to try to get me off the phone which I thought was very rude! I asked her if she was in a rush she says "no I just have a customer." Instead of placing me on a brief hold or asking for a callback number she would talk over me wouldn't even let me talk about my order! Ruined my whole morning after I got up specifically to talk to her! This bakery seriously needs a new manager who works more hours and who definitely has better customer service skills! Since she was in a rush and would barely let me talk I just said forget it and terminated the call. Let it be known this review is based only on Holly the bakery department manager and not the rest of the store as I hardly ever shop there, just love Stop & Shop strawberry shortcake cakes, lol. I called the store on Montello Street in Brockton & immediately the manager answered all my questions & gave me a quote and was 1000 times nicer than the bakery manager at this store! On a good note , 2 out of the 3 times I tried calling to speak to Holly (and she was never there), I spoke to a lovely woman named Audrey who I would say should be the manager. Answered my questions & was helpful on the phone, but because of the custom order I wanted I had to speak to Holly of corse! Maybe this store should consider Audrey for the bakery manager! Just makes me wonder what the quality of the cakes are made by this woman Holly with the attitude she has! Although Whitman is much closer to me I will go to Brockton just because of the better customer service by the bakery manager. (This review is cross-posted on Yelp & FB, that's how...
Read moreI have been shopping at S&S Whitman since 2005 when we moved here from PA. This store just can't seem to get it right! The fish department left and now it is back. What a relief! The fish is usually very good and fresh. Unfortunately, there is seldom ayone there to wait on you. One young gentleman (named Scotty I believe) is the only conscientious person working there. The Meat Department butchers ignore everyone until you can interrupt them or stop them when they come out to the floor. Produce, what a mess!!! I could bring back something from this department each time I shop (which is 1 to 2 times a week). Just today strawberries had a moldy one in the middle of the package, organic celery and carrots had at least 1-2 sticks that were bad and not usable. The cauliflower and broccoli are hit and miss. This store is close to me from home and I have to pass it coming from work. Convenient yes, but do I want to drop $140 to $150 a week here? It needs more than changing the store products around to make it good. Customer Service in needed badly as well as fresh products! The front end of the store does not run any better. Sorry for the sarcasm but being in the middle of making meals for the week and having expensive ingredients that are not useable is frustrating! Yes, I have returned purchases many times over and they take them back without question. (Oh, by the way, the Florist Dept. is great and does a beautiful job arranging special requests. ...
