Where do I begin? I started shopping here a couple months ago and I’ve spent over $3000 in store on football and basketball cards. I should have seen the red flags when I first went in and they told me they don’t give out prices on the phone because they don’t want people to shop around and get the best price. I live an hour away so knowing the price ahead of time is a must. They also do not like customers using their phone in the store to research prices online. Regardless this was the closest store to me and I continued to go weekly and buy stuff. I noticed every time I went in they kept telling me how they were giving me deals but I was just buying stuff for the prices they were going for. The breaking point was recently when I was literally lied to about the price of something on a website when I sent them an email. They sent me a link to the website they refer to for prices and there was a $50 difference in price. I don’t know why they would send me the link just to catch them in a lie. Now that I have called them out on it. They have called me multiple names and told me I was ungrateful since they have given my son a Pokémon poster after spending $3000. I don’t get it. After Paul was done verbally insulting me by email he had his wife Terri email me as well to continue to call me an ungrateful know it all who wasn’t raised right by my father. I’m the ungrateful one for spending thousands of dollars in their store and catching them in a lie. I assume the only reason they stay in business is because they are they only card shop within 50 miles. I will take the extra drive to Central Sports Cards where I have been treated fairly and honestly, they give prices out on the phone, and prices are posted so they can’t lie.
Edit: Just read response below to see how they treat and talk about people who have supported their business. My dad was abusive physically and verbally to me and my mother but glad you can make light of...
Read moreMy favorite card shop in the world. Paul and Terry have been at it for 30+ years, and every time I go in, I spend at least 30 minutes chatting with them. Just great people.
And as someone that LOVES ripping packs, their store is my Mecca. They always have the newest products on release day, their prices are more than fair, and I have pulled some of my all-time best cards from them.
I think a lot of people giving negative reviews are those that want to sell their cards. If you're looking to sell to a card shop, first, don't. I'm sure there are shops out there that buy, but you have to understand the fact that brick and mortar shops have a TON of costs, declining margins, and if they are going to buy something they have to make money. Better to sell on eBay or go to a show. And I'll also give a tip from someone that re-entered the hobby right around COVID time: do some research. If you are thinking that 2025 is like 1997, you are going to be shocked by what prices are these days. Boxes are insanely expensive.
Last point: card shops are getting squeezed by the card companies and if you're not a breaker, you're lucky to even get new product. So pricing isn't based on greed, but instead supply and demand coupled with overhead. These are not people making millions by jacking up their prices. They're passionate about the hobby and making customers happy.
I've always found Paul and Terry incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and more than happy to share their years of experience in the hobby. Can't recommend them higher for those that want to walk away with something great at a fair price, and maybe even...
Read moreThis is easily one of the best sports card shops around. They hold their store to a higher standard which almost never happens with card shops (not many cars stores around in general) I remember going in and having them tell me they don't allow customers to feel around the packs to get the good cards like other places do and leaving the non-hit packs out. I tested that theory out by buying the last two packs of some Upper Deck NHL (i dont even collect NHL) and what do you know, Dougie Hamilton dual jersey card. The packs were on sale since it was the last 2 and that clearly showed me that this card store operates correctly and honestly. Anyone who posts here that the owners are rude are just plain wrong. The store is super clean and should be considered top notch. A+ in my books.
UPDATE: I see a lot of people reviewing this place cause the staff won’t look up cards for value. Let’s get this straight, they do not offer a free card service checking the value of your cards. It’s 2019 look up your own cards or buy a Beckett for $10. Clearly the people calling to ask the value of a card are too lazy to look it up themselves. This place is top notch if you’re a REAL card collector. And real card collectors don’t call up ask ask how much their cards are worth cause they know how to do it...
