My brother loves Nationals and I have been here a few times and always had good experiences. I never had any real complaints until today. I was so excited to shoot a new gun I got for Christmas and spend some time with my boyfriend and son who picked it out for me. I have owned guns for years, I took safety classes, I have my permits to conceal and carry and I am usually very comfortable shooting. We went to Nationals to use the range and transfer the new handgun. At first everything was great, staff was kind at the range counter and answered all our questions. When we went into the range the officer on duty was pretty nice and helpful. We followed all the rules and enjoyed the first 30 minutes, then he started to stand way too close to me, making me very anxious and uncomfortable. I wasn't enjoying shooting as I was taking my shots with someone looking constantly over my shoulder. At one point between my fingers being cold and being uncomfortable with him being so close I set my gun down to walk away and have my boyfriend finish taking his shots and the guy made me pick it back up and follow his directions to empty the EMPTY SHELLS from MY REVOLVER - again making me extremely uncomfortable. I don't like strange men coming up behind me and standing so close. When we left I made a comment to my boyfriend how i was uncomfortable and he agreed the man was being too overbearing with me specifically. Another patron agreed, but the older guy at the counter called me a Karen and made fun of me. He was also pretty rude to the younger guy who helped me with my transfer. I don't know why any place would want to make their paying customers feel so uncomfortable but I likely won't return anytime soon. It's unfortunate because the range is really nice and it's a good family activity in the winter. It just isn't a comfortable or friendly...
Read moreIf you are looking for a full-service gun shop and indoor range, look no further than Williamsport's own National Range & Armory!
The inventory of new and used guns is expansive. Their offerings of related firearm accoutrements is always impressive, ranging from ammunition to magazines to optics to suppressors and holsters. The in-house custom holster shop (Keystone Concealment) supplies a wide range of EDC and competition options.
The 8-lane indoor range is well-lit and fully automated. The range master and range officers are very experienced and have a continual focus on safety. The range offers a wall full of rental gun options from handguns to fully automatic weapons.
National offers several different levels of handgun classes. They range from the true basics (for those with no experience) to intermediate and advanced courses. The Competition Shooting course is excellent for those curious about IDPA or USPSA. For those that prefer a more focused level of instruction, I highly recommend the 1:1 training opportunities. All of the instructors are competitive shooters with extensive experience levels both as competitors and also as firearms instructors.
The salespeople are quite astute and ready to assist you with any inquiries you may have. The gunsmiths are fabulous and maintain an up-to-date knowledge base to handle any repair needs or customization wants you may have.
Overall, I have been exceptionally delighted with each visit to Williamsport's National...
Read moreWould you drive several hours and a couple of hundred miles to visit a shop and gunsmith that you could trust? I would, and I did. National Range & Armory, and its gunsmith, Thomas Richardson, came highly recommended, and they did not disappoint.
As is all too often the case, I'd gotten myself into a firearm maintenance and modification jam that I couldn't get myself out of. After asking a few trusted advisors, I was referred to Thomas and National Range & Armory (NRA).
My first clue that they were, well, different (in a good way!), was when I called to explain my problem. Thomas and NRA were not only sympathetic, but were honestly concerned that I was experiencing frustration, and were eager to help me out.
So, I drove the couple hundred miles one morning, and was there when NRA opened. The gentleman behind the counter, and then Thomas looked at my shotgun, looked at me, and said, "I think we can help you, give me a couple of hours."
I came back a couple of hours later, and, true to their word, my problem was solved! I think I was in shock for about half an hour at just how effective, talented, friendly, and punctual Thomas and NRA were! Worth every minute and every mile of the drive and then some!
If you're anywhere in the same time zone as Thomas and NRA, and you need some help with your guns, these are the gentlemen to see! Google only lets me give five stars, but I'd give...
